*** Official Mass Effect 2 Thread ***

*sigh* i wish they'd give it a rest with the different preorder items depending on where you order from, its just stupid.
My thoughts exactly. Went through that BS with DA. Decided to get the 360 version instead, I can sell it on (not that I'd want to) and I can play it out of the box without faffing about getting it to run smooth like I did with PC ME.

Indeed, it was just stupid that they made you dl it through them instead of just attaching it to the Steam download, its fairly frigging obvious i'm a valid DLC owner, i quite clearly bought the DDE, instead i've got to jump through hoops activating everything and dl'ing it seperately ( a very slow dl if i might say too). I swear the devs think that just because the pc is an open platform they must do things in the most contrite way possible instead of using a simpler system that already exists.

And yeah i wouldn't expect much from trading it in, not when a lot of content is attached to your account, not the game.

Anyone got this from the EA store, was just wondering when we can pre-load as it isnt showing up in my Ea download manager.

For goodness sake DO NOT use EA Down loader. I got tiger woods from the online store and then couldn't load it. kept asking for authentication. Contacted EA support, they just sent me obsolete knowledge base articles.

Quite ironic that I could have got a pirated version quicker and easier.

Amazon good at getting pre-orders to you on time?

I've pre-ordered from play before and not had the game turn up for days after. :(

As long as you select first class you should be ok. I prefer to use gameplay normally, as they only charge 99p for first class :D instead of 1.99 on Amazon (yes im a tight git :p)

1 week to go. :p
Exams finally done, now I can create my Shepard ready for ME2.

I'm thinking male, earthborn/colonist, war hero, adept/sentinel. Don't think I'll have time to do reruns for level 60, so I'm just going to have to content myself with one thorough playthrough. :D

Aye i was just thinking i'd taken the thread waaaay off topic, apologies.

Back on topic:
Have any reviews stated the playtime of this outing? I'm hoping it'll be a tad longer than the original which seemed to be over just as it was getting going. All the reviews i've read, while incredibly positive, never mention how many hours it took for them to 'clock' it. I'm reading cautiously though to avoid spoilers, so there's a good chance i missed it.

Really looking forward to this. In fact, it is the only reason I bothered getting a 5770 to replace my broken 8800GT. The trailer is great, with some nice music.

Why does my 9600 GSO have to be so hard to find tests with :p

The 5870 Vapor X on the OcUK shop would be very sweet for this game... unfortunately i'm trying to avoid upgrading this pc as i'll probably just get a new 1 later this year ><

Just some comments i heard from the leaked version.

You can transfer ur old save that has maxed out and completed the game to get a bonus (u dont keep ur character from me1) in a new game. You confirm by ingame i think it was by lookin for ur savegame and then when u select it i think u get a bonus.

AA i hear doesnt work when forced and no ingame settings for it.

^ Yeah, from what I've read a high/max level character from ME1 will start ME2 from level 2,3 or 4 (depending on what level you finished ME1). May not be accurate.

Starting a level or 2 higher would seem a little... irrelevant. I mean what use is skipping the shortest few levels when the later ones are 50x that.

My guess is a item or something 'unique' in the armour customisations. Also possible it gives you certain research items to begin with.

Well these are from the press review copy but I doubt they changed these before gold master:

Lvl50 character gave:
- starts at level 3
- 30k money + 100k for importing a "rich character" for a total of 130k start money
- 5k of all minerals
- Quite a decent chunk of paragon+renegade points. Favouring the side you had more in your save.

Level 60 character:
- Starts at level 5
- 50k money + 100k rich character bonus = 150k
- 10k of every mineral
- Paragon + renegade points

It's a 100% reliable source (a journalist from a Finnish gaming magazine), the only question is if they changed that from press copy to gold. The same journalist + another one have been hyping the game for few weeks now in the discussion board, sharing few bits of information here and there. Sounds like it's going to be a big one.. possibly game of the year even though it's January :)
