**** Official Microsoft Flight Simulator Thread ****

I had a go with the new patch this afternoon but still finding the sim to be quite buggy. Autopilot behaviour remains rather errratic, and at the end of my flight ( in a Cessna 172 ) my aircraft's propellor wouldn't stop rotating despite shutting off the engine ! The aircraft would just roll off and pick up speed unless I had my parking brakes on.

Suddenly running like absolute dog poop compared to when I last went on a few weeks back, single figure FPS and very low GPU usage :(

got any stuff in the community folder?

from the latest patch notes:

“Some packages in your community folder may not have been updated and, as a result, may have an unexpected impact on the title’s performance and behavior. Please move your community package(s) to another folder before relaunching the title if you suffer from stability issues or long loading times.”

Lovely.
Mine stopped working after the last patch. Tried the recommended actions, eg driver update, reboots, running from Xbox app. The went with the nuke option of a full re-install. Still gives a CTD during the update screen

There's a new launcher update today, tried that?

Try unplugging peripherals - apparently there was a bug causing ctd with certain peripherals plugged in which this hotfix should address.

The game as of late seems much better looking BUT, with my 3080 my performance isn't great, 20 to 30fps at 1440p ultra, the GPU is only at 50% usage. People are reporting 50fps at 1440p so something is up.

Any idea if there is something specific? I had Gsync disabled and Gsync on it control panel.

Definitely something odd there - just played a bit and I’m getting around 40fps on 2070S at a little under 4k (80% res scale), high-end preset, 3900X, 32gb ram... GPU pegged at 100%

Thanks for the recommendation. Re-installed and worked fine this time.

Yeah performance is very similar to my 2070S I had maybe slightly better.

I do have all settings max for example the sliders turned up to 2048, do you?

Everything set to lowest I'd be lucky to get higher frames and upping to 4k doesn't change the frames much

Sounds like main thread bottleneck then if you got similar between 2070S and 3080 and little change between 4k and 1440p etc... What CPU do you have?

What plane/where you flying? Try turning off live traffic if it's on. If flying something with panels, try lowering panel refresh rate as it reduces CPU load.

In main settings page at bottom on left go to developers, then enable developer mode and I bet you see limited by main thread pop up (options - rendering - display FPS)

I'm running. 3700x, using Ryzen balance power plan.

I tried the A320 neo and. Can't remember what the other plane was but it's the fastest turboprop in the game

Did you open dev mode? That will tell you for certain if it is CPU main thread limiting your FPS.

No but I'll give that a go when I get home ta.

It must be CPU because the GPU is running at 40 odd percent. But the CPU must be underperforming.

I'm also going to try a second install of Windows 10 to try iron out any issues.

No ,1440p high across the board , get 40 odd frames nearly the whole time, cpu is an 8700 32gb memory.

I think its well balanced for 1440p not sure what would happen with a 3080 hopefully not cpu bound at 4k.
