**** Official Microsoft Flight Simulator Thread ****

Mine was going ok until 174/175 when it ground to ~1Mb/s as well.

Nevermind, I'll just go to the pub while it downloads. Oh wait... ****.

All updated. As for the speed, pretty shocking from MS servers. 4 hours on a 500 Meg line (tested throughout and no issues other than what's provided by MS server)
Really can't be bothered now though.

I'm getting pretty tierd now of everyone and everything blamed on Covid related issues and too many people using the Internet , blar blar.

It’s MS, not you. My internet is fast and I can download of other servers at expected speeds. MSFS is notorious for snail like download speeds, took me about three days to download the actual game.

I had a quick play last night; London does look really good now; very noticeably around Canary Wharf and the City; the photogrammetry also makes it a lot easier for me to pick out exact streets and buildings (not skyscrapers) that I recognise!
The HMS Belfast one is strange!! Hopefully someone can replace it with a proper model!

Also had a look at Edinburgh (home) nice to see the Bridges across the Forth done and Edinburgh Castle but really would have liked it to get some more love; the rest of the city still looks pretty dire so will probably have a look at the community Edinburgh scenery that's there now.

It doesn't help them that as soon as an update launches hundreds of thousands if not millions are downloading; we tend to see the same thing with updates for "big" games like COD as well.

I had a friend who got up at 5 this morning and had the updates down in about an hour. Took me over 3 last night but I never saw the snail like speeds some of you are reporting. I seemed to bottom out at around 20 Mbps, max my line does is about 58.

I had an unrealistic expectation that Asobo/MS might have added Garston Farm grass strip but alas no and then to make things worse they've removed Colerne! Not happy with that. Not sure if it's still active, ATC training and Bristol Uni Glider club used (use) it but as Filton is still included they're not removing all closed fields.

I had a play and my block must have just been in the bounds of the photogrammetry as my gf's about 1/2 mile further east was still just a generic building. Pretty amazing although did look better in the evening rather than daylight which hides some of the issues.
Some of London around the city looks like a post apocalypse scene where the seas have only just receded.

Birmingham is the same! the Rotunda and the Post Office tower, they look the city from Planet of the Apes! Why is that?

sounds pretty accurate ... :D

London a lot better - weird no olympic stadium, battersea or vauxhall mi6 etc all missing still

I'm sure I saw Salisbury cathedral on the list but it looks a bit LOL when you see it

the general photogrammetry is really good though flying around over Hampshire fields, rivers roads looks very accurate (I've done the same route in an a real plane too), Southampton particularly accurate 3d buildings etc

mine is very smooth with lots of things turned right up to max

only issue is sometimes everything completely stops for 5-10 seconds then carries on nice and smooth again

im guessing i fly to edge of boundry and it has to go look up more scenery then HANG

Apparently, the new advice it to turn off the rolling cache if your internet speeds is around 100-150mb, so it should help with the small stutters, not sure about hangs you're having.
