**** Official Microsoft Flight Simulator Thread ****

I've tested this today. Total ********* as I suspected it would be. Makes absolutely no difference to the clarity that you run in the VR settings (why would it) and makes zero difference to overall performance or smoothness.
Likewise.

Saw someone's youtube video which suggested it might benefit Quest 2 more, but it was far from convincing. Think it's a case of wanting to see it.

Really want to buy MSFS but think my vega 64 will crumble if you are struggling with a 3080. Granted would be at 1440p for me but still
You have the option to turn off photogrammetry, which is what kills performance. It looks pretty dreadful for London anyway.

Stop making top gun add ons and start fixing London! It even looks dreadful on your load screens which are supposed to showcase it!!!

Getting 15fps which flat flashing landscape that hasn’t even loaded in!!!

The Topgun thing could be fun though... given it's a movie tie-in it could be a relatively cinematic casual-level campaign, and there's not a huge amount of stuff in that market that also has reasonably decent flight physics. Plus it's free, which is a pretty good price.

As for the other problems, I'd hold fire until the DX12/SU5/Xbox version drops on July 27th... While there will certainly still be plenty of room for improvement it's sounding very promising in terms of getting the core sim into a pretty workable state.

BTW have you checked your teredo state if you are having issues with photogrammetry loading in? London looks a bit naff but never had issues with it not appearing at all. Also worth checking photogrammetry hasn't turned itself off.

Ooh is DX12 deffo on the 27/7? Got any links? I did wonder how X bone would cope and the 5 series AMD chips whilst better than my 3900xt are still ‘bad’ and not worth upgrading to for this.

what’s a Terrado state?

Go to xbox networking in system settings (can just type into start bar search), and run the check... if you get "teredo is unable to qualify" then that has been linked by some to cause some issues with texture and data streaming.

If it is, to fix it properly raise an elevated command prompt (open as admin) and type:

netsh interface teredo set state type=enterpriseclient

hit enter, then type exit and enter.

Re-run the network test and it should pass.

Not got direct links off hand but it's been mentioned before in the Dev Q&A videos that xbox release is the DX12 release too. Btw it's not releasing on Xbox One, only Series X and S.

Also, not mentioned by name but you can read between the lines - the preview flighting opportunity (for SU5) in their june 3rd blog update said this:

“Would you like to participate in our next flighting opportunity? We have made significant updates and data changes to the sim and need a variety of PC setups to help test stability and performance. This build does not include any content changes but has significant performance updates we’d love for you to try out and provide feedback on.”

Thankyou that’s great and useful. There’s no way an Xbox could run this sim on one core so it makes a lot of sense.

F18 Top Gun expansion without supersonic flight would be an odd choice, so surely they must!

Will be interesting to see how big the expansion is... are we looking at just an aircraft, a carrier and a couple of basic "missions" like training sorties at Top Gun Academy, landing on the carrier etc, or are we looking at a short campaign type expansion with live weapons, combat and proper missions?

I assume the bill is probably being shared by Paramount et al as part of the film's marketing budget. Given that will easily run to tens of millions the potential is there to get quite a good worthwhile expansion done with barely a dent on their budget so I'm hopeful it'll at least be a decent chunk of content.

Decided to do a short hop from Palma to Barcelona in the A320, I started at a gate, pushed back, taxied a fair way to 24R. lined up, applied full power and look what happened, the hop was somewhat shorter than I'd planned... I really need to watch some tutorials on how to fly the A320.
