**** Official Microsoft Flight Simulator Thread ****

Decided to do a short hop from Palma to Barcelona in the A320, I started at a gate, pushed back, taxied a fair way to 24R. lined up, applied full power and look what happened, the hop was somewhat shorter than I'd planned... I really need to watch some tutorials on how to fly the A320.

Happened to me many times it's quite frustrating isn't it. I second the tutorials.

doesn't look too bad actually, that'll probably buff out.

Just an update my Terado state was a fail and I tried that trick and it passed.

Now im off to London to test, game should load by Friday so I’ll let you all know…

Id like to learn the A320 from scratch, including the FMC and how to fly approaches etc but id would probably take a similar amount of time to getting my commercial pilots license ( albeit a LOT cheaper lol )

Same for me, I think learning it in that way will definitely bring the realism up a notch!

Didn’t work, still very low fps and London still looks dreadful. Terado state resets every time I restart pc. Just gonna leave it now till MS patch the game with DX12. It’s great in so many ways but also a steaming pile of you know what in others!

It won't fix it being low FPS and melty, that appears to be largely due to poor integration of the photogrammetry from that supplier and it's on their to do list to revisit it I believe.... but it might fix things with failure to stream in data etc. It's also going to cause issues with multiplayer if it's not able to qualify. Also don't forget to clear the rolling cache before trying again just to remove that variable.

So anyway the teredo stuff isn't actually anything to do with MSFS directly, it's more of a windows networking issue... but there are certainly other areas that are a steaming pile of doo doo ;)

If it isn't persisting across reboots then try this instead (again in elevated command prompt, enter each one in order and hit enter)

netsh int teredo set state disable
netsh int teredo set state type=default
netsh int teredo set state enterpriseclient
netsh int teredo set state servername=teredo.remlab.net

Again run the xbox networking tool to check it's worked and then try rebooting and run the check again - hopefully it sticks.

Thankyou for your continued help!

I’ll try that but I never have any issues with multiplayer on other games or this one. I can play il-2 whilst I wait for the fixes!

It’s honestly not nearly as difficult as you might think. The A320 is a very intuitive plane with awesome systems. Even something as intimidating as a cold and dark start is really easy compared to some others. There’s a channel on YouTube called a320simpilot. The fella is a real life airbus pilot and there is a playlist where he teaches pretty much everything you need in a series of videos. It is without doubt the best place to start.

Feel free to ask me any questions too if you wish, as I pretty much know it inside out.

Yeah the A320 is a pretty easy aircraft to get up and running with, on a superficial level at least. All the modes and button layouts are pretty logical and straight forward, and various sequences are easy to learn with the aircraft really looking after you... The whole thing is for the most part well designed from a user point of view - for example want to find a button related to the hydraulics on the overhead panel? Just look up until you see HYD written on the side and then move across to find the switch.

Where the A320 gets more interesting, and indeed where you'd spend a good chunk of your time training during a type rating etc, is in the systems and learning how to deal with the non-normal side of life.... not much systems/failures depth in that regard yet with the FBW but it will be coming.

For when those failures do come as I believe FBW intends, then this is a fantastic free little guide that I actually use as a real life training aide in addition to the manuals... he basically takes a lot of the more meaningful failures and boils them down to a very succinct summary of what the main issues are, what the gotchas are, and sometimes some recommendations on how to deal with them, it's absolutely fantastic and he is now selling paper copies too if you felt like supporting him. Far more digestible to the average person than trawling through FCOM etc.

Non normal notes (PDF): Airbus A320 Family Non-Normal Notes - Version 2.6 (hursts.org.uk)

He also has other things that might be of interest depending on how much you want to get into it like technical notes... Airbus Notes (hursts.org.uk)

Edit - on another note the FBW is really getting quite good recently. I did my return to work sims last month and we had some spare time so I thought I'd practise my long time favourite of a visual into GVA RWY04 via Kerad... When I got home I was curious so tried it in MSFS while the experience was still fresh and I was surprised at how closely the experience matched in terms of configuration, descent rates etc. It was really a pretty good approximation of the real approach in terms of how you need to fly it to get it to work.

Thanks for the advice, I will have a look at that channel and get started I think. BTW regarding my recent "disaster" take off, the problem was my joystick was set up so the throttle only operated one engine, so basically trying to take off with one engine.. doh.

The virtual world in Microsoft’s Flight Simulator is getting its latest major update, one with a focus on Europe’s Nordic countries of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. Renowned for its natural splendor and architectural wonder, this region has been rendered in its most realistic fidelity yet in World Update V: Nordics.

Simmers can take to the northern European sky and explore vast fjords, intriguing urban vistas, domineering peaks, and centuries-old castles from within the cockpit. World Update V: Nordics includes improvements in detail of broad swaths of landscapes, enhancements to regional architecture, improved data for 100 airports and 77 carefully selected points of interest. The update also has five bush trips, one for each of the Nordic countries, that show off some of the very best of these destinations.

This latest update also includes five landing challenges designed to test and hone aviation mettle throughout a range of conditions. The airports used for the landing challenges, Denmark’s Bornholm, Iceland’s Ísafjörður, Sweden’s Stockholm Arlanda, Norway’s Svalbard, and Finland’s Vaasa, have all been carefully replicated by hand for maximum realism.

World Update V: The Nordics is available FREE to all Microsoft Flight Simulator users. Be sure your simulator is up to date first, then visit the Marketplace to download the Nordic Countries Bundle, and get ready to immerse yourself in this magnificent part of the world!

The Microsoft Flight Simulator Team

I have a lot of love for Switzerland in particular (I lived there for just over 5 years), so very much looking forward to seeing what they do with it.

Bit of a lightweight interview with Jorg (head of flightsim) about the xbox version and work they've done. I especially like the look of the new map system. Doesn't say much about the Top Gun addon except that they'll be going really fast, so I guess that answers the supersonic flight question.... found it interesting that he also alluded to more surprises like that in future.

Anyone else not able to update and play the game as necessary for the latest world update? (Gamepass version by the way)

When I launch the game I get a message about a mandatory update and to visit the MS store and it takes you there automatically - but there is no update option in the MS store like there usually is for required updates, only "play".

Looking on the official forums it sounds like quite a few people are having the same issue....

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/c/bugs-and-issues/performance/211

There is an optional win10 update that specififcally mentions it fixes this issue (it did for me).

Updates an issue that might redirect you to the Microsoft Store page for Gaming Services when you try to install or start an Xbox Game Pass game on your Windows 10 device.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...-of-band-e12f58c7-4ceb-4d24-adfb-b13820f4e86b

Thanks for the suggestion but didn't work.

This is doing my head in now. How can they release an update, that won't update! Never had an issue running updates before for this game, but had plenty of issues with Gamepass before. Gamepass and the windows store is such a shower of ****.

Going to have to nuke it and re download and install. Should only take about 2 days. Useless *****.

Doesn't sound like the same problem but 4 or 5 different people I know couldn't run the game with the last but 1 update. All were running Bullguard and by reducing the Firewall level the game started to work ok, if you've not tried it perhaps temporarily disabling any antivirus/firewall you're running may help?
