**** Official Microsoft Flight Simulator Thread ****

I wouldnt mind a career mode (apologies if there is one), something sort of akin to the progression modes in F1 or EU/US Truck Simulator. Would be pretty cool if I had to start off training to fly, then signing up for a company and being allocated short range, limited cargo/passenger flights in small aircraft, progress up through the career onto larger and larger aircraft, maybe have job offers etc from other companies and progress from small minor routes eventually ending up as a full blown international airline pilot on major routes, where schedules and arriving on time etc effect my performance and chances of promotion and so on.

Its a superb sandbox though but I'd still quite fancy a full blown career mode.

All that was possible with previous sims using third party addons so it's likely to come in time. FSEconomy and OnAir are already working in beta with the new sim.

There is a mode for FSX "Cargo Pilot" which offered career mode but it wasn't that good. I would like to see something similar in FS2020

Getting a bit bored of this now. Gameplays a bit samy.
I had same experience during alpha, world looks nice aircraft looks nice, but controls and flying is unrealistic. This meant to be simulator but it does not simulate flying correctly, I would rather wait months for Asobo to fix common issues rather than play this scenery demo.

Even with all assists off?

This game seems really hard to play with just an XBOX Controller and I wish on the map it highlighted places, so the city you were flying over it actually pointed the particular place out.

Yep the globe selection could do with some place names, my Geography is good but I've found myself having google maps open on my iPad to try and locate places I've been on holiday etc.

Most of the "career" add-ons for previous FS required you to complete the flight in one sitting, not always easy.

But I agree this would enhance the experience with some purpose rather than just numerous free flights.

Personally it feels like this product was rushed to be published. There is no GPU that can comfortably hold good performance, only handful of controllers will give you somewhat realistic experience. Most aircraft are in similar prop range, lack of livery, no red bull air course, autopilot broken, gliders would be amazing for the scenery.

Guys only had one recommendation, anyone recommend a good HOTAS system for a beginner

Thrustmaster brought out the TCA airbus stick to coincide with the game which looks pretty decent.
The VKB Gladiator NXT is a new stick that will probably be better built which looks good to.
The Honeycomb yoke is also popular.

To be fair it is just a glorified scenery generator, a career mode with some goals would be nice. I find google earth in vr fills my scenery generator needs.

Interesting my poor performance in cockpit seems.to.be more CPU bound than GPU bound (3770k @ 4.5)

Don't seem to be many performance tweaks for cockpit ?

Try disabling the VFR map from the toolbar using the last icon on the right - apparently it's a resource hog and runs constantly in the background. Can disable everything you won't use either to tidy it up - I just have ATC, cameras and nav log.

What kind of prices am I looking at if I want to buy new planes from 3rd party developers?

I've seen a small plane on the store for around £25, would this be roughly the price to pay if I want a 737 Dreamliner or A380 in the future?

I have the standard edition, and looking at the upgrade prices, I'm kind of disappointed I didn't just get the Premium version from the off.

With my system, I'm getting around 30fps in the cockpit sat on the runway at Heathrow no matter what setting I use. Screen res, low, ultra, whatever, nothing changes the performance. The dev tool indicates "limited by MainThread". Core 0/thread 0 is at around 70-80%, all other cores around 35%. Both CPU and GPU seem to be ticking over compared the how they run when playing other games. The system and GPU RAM is not being fully utilised. It's like the CPU core load is not being balanced correctly and core 0 is limiting performance.

Ah fantastic thanjyou I'd been looking on graphics options I have been looking in wrong place

Thanks again

Depends on the complexity - PMDG aircraft can be £100+ for P3D/XPlane

I'd like a 737 Dreamliner too ha!

It depends, you probably won't get full blown training-quality 3rd party commercial jets for £25 though. On other sims they can go for up to £100.
