**** Official Microsoft Flight Simulator Thread ****

Got the new driver downloaded and then got summoned away - but I’m crossing my fingers for a little extra performance out of my rig :p
 
Okay, just had a little fly.

My CPU (4C/8T Haswell) is at around 50% most of the time, but my GPU (Vega 56) is at 99%. I left it on the default High End setting, turned V Sync off (I have Radeon Chill on to limit fps to 75), at 1440p and it was pretty smooth - definitely above 30-40 fps.

HOWEVER - has anyone managed to work out how the camera works? How do I get an external freelook like we had in FSX/P3D? Using the hat switch on my joystick? It's driving me mad. What's all this smart view nonsense??!

I'm probably going to have to spend the rest of the night remapping every single control to be as close to FSX as possible as that's what I'm use to.

please don't forget to post your rig specs so we can get some sort of feeling to the direction of performance and how it scales.

go to showcase, and then the drone camera. Xbox controller is easiest way to control it imo.

You don't need to... it's just easy, hence why I recommended it. You do you.

You can also use standard external view options as well as showcase... it's all under the view tab.

If you turn off auto renew you can resubscribe for £1 again when it runs out.

Hmm mine does a checking for updates thing but then just goes to that screen with the blue bar. Think I'll just wait a few days :)

edit: It's working now. This is a big download for someone who just wants to fly over their town and probably wont play it again.
 
Bought on Steam, can't preload yet, grr

I'll report back with 1440P performance once I can get in.
