Have you tried signing out and then back into your xbox & Microsoft accounts

As doing this looks like it may of helped some people in this thread

If you're stuck on a black screen, please do the following:

Install the English (United States) Language Package and reboot your computer

Microsoft Flight Simulator requires the English (United States) Language Package. To install a new language pack on your system, follow this link: Language packs for Windows



Unplug your USB devices

Unplug any non-essential or ALL USB devices that may be plugged in. Once in-game, plug your USB devices again.



Run Microsoft Flight Simulator as Admin

To do so, type "Flight simulator" in the Windows search bar then select "Run as administrator" in the menu.



Deactivate Windows Defender and/or your firewall


  • Open Start. . ...
  • Open Settings. . ...
  • Click. Update & Security. ...
  • Click Windows Security. This tab is in the upper-left side of the window.
  • Click Virus & threat protection. ...
  • Click Virus & threat protection settings. ...
  • Disable Windows Defender's real-time scanning.
  • Set game priority to high
  • Turn off any overlays


Check that your antivirus is not causing a conflict with the game

Sample of Virus checkers that have been known to prevent games and apps from launching:

  • Trend Micro Maximum Security
  • Comodo Antivirus
  • Sophos
  • Emisoft Anti-Malware
  • Avira
  • Avast


If your antivirus falsely flagged Microsoft Flight Simulator, remove the file from quarantine then whitelist Microsoft Flight Simulator. To do so follow the instructions from your antivirus manufacturer.



Reinstall the App from the Microsoft Store

  • To do so, type "Flight simulator" in the Windows search bar then select "Uninstall" in the menu. Click twice.
  • Open the Windows Store app
  • Go to My library, search for Microsoft Flight Simulator
  • Click install


Additional troubleshooting

  • Make sure Windows has the latest updates: Select Start , then select Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates.

I can but try.

Just really cheesed off as this was working yesterday and I changed nothing. It really shouldn't be this hard to run a game, or reinstall it for that matter.

Welcome to PC gaming where these kind of problems are what makes it so great compared to Console gaming were you just stick a game in and it works, There no fun & stress in that :D:D:D:D:D
 
Lol yup, it's been a long time since I had this much trouble with a title.

I might give it another go tomorrow and see how it fares otherwise its back to xplane for me for a while.
 
I think my miniscule overclock on my 1080ti, that has been fine for almost 2 years on everything I throw at it, is the root cause of CTD in this game.

Will update to confirm.

I'm pretty surprised.
 
Im just waiting on my HOTAS warthog on a pre order then ill need to uninstall/Reinstall as i want it on my 1TB SSD as right now its on my C 512GB drive

Just wish there was a easy way to move the game folder over like you can on Oculus and steam
 
I can't believe I still can't get it to install on my pc have tried everything removed overclocks turned off all background programs everything is updated . No matter what I try It ctd before I get to the install screen everytime.
 
Was getting crashes on my i7 10875 with a small CPU under volt. As soon as set back to stock it runs perfect. Everything else it runs fine inc stress testing with the under volt just not flight sim.
 
I was going to take a week off work to play glad I didn't now, I've never not been able to play a launch title before. Must admit reading some off the posts on here are making me jealous I might have to stop reading untill I figure out what is causing the CTD:p

If you go to Settings > Apps and click on Microsoft Flight Simulator there you get a move option :P
 
Has anyone done many of the Bush flying activities?

I got a little bit stuck on the second leg of the Yosemite one. I landed at the dirt airstrip at Olancha, but I have no idea how to end the flight properly, I landed fine and as I taxi'd up to the nearby settlement I can't seem to figure out how to "complete" the course. Anyone know where you are supposed to go in order for the game to "complete the level"?
 
All I had to do is to land and come to a full stop.

Also doing Balkan’s bush trip and run out of fuel on leg 8.
You can’t do normal refuel, but there is an option for fuel and repair but it’s unassigned to any keys.
