*** Official Nintendo Wii U thread ***

My opinion on the Nintendo Direct? Well I'm afraid to post it. I want people's honest thoughts, am I somehow a jerk or a meany for having the following opinion(s)? Am I wrong to feel this way? If folks see no wrong with it here, then I'll explain why I might be thinking this way if needed. Each line is a new game/number of games BTW.

Twilight Princess HD: Looks hideous (Wind Waker HD looked a lot better) and all they've added is another terrible Amiibo. I'll pass or pick this one up for cheap if it ever drops in price

2x 3DS titles I don't care about. I'd play a Mystery Dungeon like Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky, but it seems the golden age of PMD is long gone.

Splatoon: Nice, free updates always good and... the audacity! How dare they name a stage after me? I demand a royalty! A free copy of the game will do nicely.

An overhyped feature-lacking game and only now do they add a feature that one would expect it to have from day 1?

Mario Tennis: Nice... if I could afford it :c

Xenoblade Chronicles X: I was planning to pre-order this one but as above... I'm broke :'c

eShop: Fast Racing Neo! Put this at a great price point and I'll happily buy this spiritual successor to F-Zero. Who cares if I still have Mario Kart 8, it's futuristic racing!

Pokken Tournament: It was good until the whole Shadow Mewtwo reveal. Now Shadow Mewtwo itself is cool, but seeing the characters somehow morph into people is just a lad of BS. Pokemon are Pokemon, not people pretending to be Pokemon. And what ****ed me off even more is the BS time-exclusivity of Shadow Mewtwo's Amiibo card (expect to see it few ridiculous prices on eBay). Thankfully he said that it unlocks Shadow Mewtwo from the start, which means the character can be acquired through normal play.

Star Fox Zero: I had to cancel my pre-order of this because... you know it. Lack of $$$. Otherwise I might be glad about this, no mention of local multiplayer and no mention of a control scheme other than gamepad. I'd rather play with the Pro controller.

Paper Mario: Hey wasn't there already a Paper Mario game on 3DS? The one with the stickers? How come they are making a second one on 3DS but haven't even tried to make one on WiiU yet? No thanks.

A franchise I've never cared for but it's spiritual successor below is another story...

Fire Emblem Fates: I still think it's a dick move giving other franchises the Pokemon treatment. And this one is even worse since there's 3 versions. At least there's a bundle of all 3, but I really don't want to support a business model like this. Plus I never completed Awakening. I spent most of my 100+ hours just grinding characters to max levels. And the DLC was kinda BS, they had so much of it that the total cost of the DLC was more than the base price of the game. DLC is fine, but that was Nintendo's first DLC done badly

I know someone who'd like this...

Pokemon: What? Where's the Pokemon Z announcement? Oh thank goodness they added the ability to trade. But it'll always be inferior to the modern games in that respect without the online trade.

Hyrule Warriors: I still think this is pointless (since the superior WiiU version already exists) and these new characters better be added to the WiiU version. Or else I know a lot of Hyrule Warriors fans who would be mad...

Bravely: Once again, I can't afford it. I remember getting the artbook as a pre-order bonus where I could have gone for the collector's edition of Bravely Default. This Collector's Edition looks too tantalising. A shame it'll probably be terribly priced and I can't afford a $60 handheld title anyway. Plus I never completed the original, the same situation as Fire Emblem. Again, most of those 100+ hours were spent grinding the characters to max levels. Oh and dick move for having the gall for adding micro-transactions to a full-priced game. Even if it was obsolete with the fact that the actual mechanic was underpowered (only store up to 3SP) and the fact that it was easy to get SP anyway. Just put put the game on, close the 3DS and go to sleep. Next morning, say hi to another SP.

DQ: DQ9 was good fun, but I don't have time for too many long RPGs (I already havea bunch I never finished). Plus I'd prefer it on the WiiU.

Smash Bros: Oh boy! It's a new character, it's... ...Cloud? sigh This must be one of those fan-service additions. Where's Snake or Wolf? You can't have Wolf, but have this prancing fool in Smash! Some of his moves look like what Ike/Marth/Shulk already have. I'm disappointed. But a special announcement in December? fingers crossed it's Snake and Wolf returning

Overall I'm kinda disappointed. A lack of WiiU titles coming out and many games that have little niggles. And the games I'd buy I can't afford. [removed rant about not being able to get a job]

Otherwise..
The Internet: A place where you can't have a unique opinion or talk critical of Nintendo

Some fair points there. I'm a big Nintendo fan but some of the stuff just downright doesn't appeal to me and that's fine. It seems a few things appealed to you though? Based off of what you would buy if you had the cash?

Too much rehashing now.

Fair enough making similar games like Mario, Metroid and Zelda, but there was no need to remake Twilight Princess.

All I really want now is Xenoblade, Zelda and Smt x FE.

I may be giving Starfox a miss. :(

LOZ: TP looks pants despite the HD , but I will probably still pick it up, never played it.

Twilight Princess was pretty good. No Wind Waker, but not much is. A Skyward Sword HD remake would have been much more welcome, though. And would have looked less ropey. It looks stunning on Dolphin.

Yep the main focus for Nintendo right now will be the NX platform(s), so we are getting some filler announcements in the meantime which is to be expected I guess.

Still some really big releases to come out on Wii U though - Xenoblade, SMTxFE and of course Zelda U. These are games that started development several years ago now and potentially are the last big 3 games on Wii U.

I'm still very optimistic regarding Starfox however and feel it should be a lot of fun to play - we'll see though. I'll be buying all Smash Bros. character DLC too as I can still sit and play that game for hours, online or with friends.

I don't really care much about TP HD either as it's still quite fresh in my head from playing it on Wii, fantastic game though.

I had to sell Smash - it's just so addictive - I got up to 40% win ratio then I just had to walk - it's was completely taking over my free time.

Not experienced such an addictive game since Quake 3 Arena.

They're all good enough in their Wii versions, I've played through them all recently and wouldn't benefit from updated graphics

I quite like the remastered Zelda games. The Wii U is the first Nintendo console I've owned since the SNES and I love being able to catch up on all the games that I've missed. In fact all the virtual console games you can buy on the Nintendo Store are pretty awesome as well. It was one of the main selling points that made me buy a Wii U.

I'll be pre-ordering the Zelda game, Xenoblade and Starfox as well. They all look like good games.

I quite like the remastered Zelda games

OoT was old and has been updated and brought out on a new portable platform.

MM received a lot of changes that really refreshed it and again was on a new mobile platform.

WW had some of the atrocious design decisions fixed and made it a decent game.

TP? Nothing needs changing and it's not old enough to warrant a minor graphics update.

Problem is I don't have a Nintendo 3DS so I don't get any of the mobile versions of the game (although I am some what considering buying one some of the games on it look really cool).

It's 9 years old, a lot a much newer games have had remasters so it's not like age is that important. TP also looks like absolute dump on the Wii on a decent sized HDTV.
