Hey all,

With the refurb cards due in stock on the 19th, I was just wondering how many of you had pre-ordered one?

This is a pretty ground-breaking deal OCUK has embarked on, to bring us mega cheap Nvidia cards with a 1yr warranty.

I was thinking this would be a good place to pool our information and post our reviews of the cards (I am torn between the saving on the OEM cards or shelling out on an EVGA one)

So what card(s) are you planning on getting? And when you get them remember to post a review here, I'm sure they will be big sellers if come the 19th your all singing their praises :)

I would pre order, but theres no 590's :(

get a 580 for physx?

Lunawolfy, get the EVGA card, better warranty, better CS and you keep the warranty for liquid cooling which you intend to do.

1 year warranty isn't bad, but if i fails outside a year then you've essentially rented a card for a year for £300.

It's a risk that you may or may not be willing to take, I personally am not, well not with the high end cards anyway :p

Not really, this is the second time that I can remember that OCUK have had cards like these for sale. The last time it was a load of GTX285 / GTX260 and 9xxx models going "cheap"

Like it or not asterisks and properly titled threads get more views. Both this and EasyRider's thread were next to each other, and I went for this first. Shiny!

im internested in getting one on payday 26th, want to get a 580 in replacement of my sli 560 but wondering whether ill see a noticable heat and power drop sli isnt my cup of tea also, it would tide me over till next gen.

I wouldn't mind picking up a second GTX480 for some sli for BF3, if funds allow as it, be interesting to see what makes people get

Not sure what makes it ground breaking, the 580gtx has a lot off it, but then then Nvidia doesn't want a load of £350 stock sitting on shelves in a month or two when 28nm gpu's hit and they drop in value, dramatically.

THe 570gtx is a good deal due to price/performance, the 580gtx is still what, 45% more expensive, for 15% more performance, of which some will be regained if they both hit the roughly same clocks(I don't know if they do or not, AMD cards tend to 5850/6950's with same voltage should hit similar clocks to the 5870/6970 cards).

Why anyone would pay that much more, for that little extra performance(5% clock for clock, maybe 10?) i don't know.

Deals on 6950's in 2 months should be good, and frankly a 570gtx at just over £205 doesn't strike me as a better deal than a current 6950 at £190, with a longer warranty and being brand new.

Then again, for me the only time its worth buying "new gen" cards is in the first few months of release, if you haven't needed one by then, you're unlikely to be desparate for one before the next gen releases anyway, or when they do, you get EOL pricing on that new gen and vastly better pricing.

580gtx simply sucks less balls now, value/performance wise, you will not feel the difference between a 570/580gtx, you only think you will.

As for the rest of the cards, 285gtx's for £140, when for a huge portion of the past year you could pick up 5850's for £100-120, 470gtx's for £150, which you can still do now, meh really. The 570gtx has merely gone from not great value vs the 6950, to just about in line.

I've ordered the 580. Upgrading from a 480 so not a huge increase, but I simply can't afford a 590 and I do just need a few more fps in 3d vision games, so this will help. Also have a 5% off code so that has taken it down to £275, which aint bad. I just hope there is some overclocking room.
