Nice work, Scotty. I know from my own benches of Grid something was way off with those results.

His results might well be legit, but people aren't likely to take him seriously after his grudge video. And I don't necessarily think it was a grudge video - but AMD refusing him a sample is clearly going to leave a bitter taste lol.
It doesn't make much sense for the 970 to be ahead of a GCN1.2 card like Fury in Grid Autosport anyway.

Yeah it does but we need to see the frame-time graphs to see the full picture.

Yeah, mine was a want rather than a need. I switched from 980SLi for the better minimums and ram, plus knew the G1 kills it at 1440p so I'd be set for a fair while
At least until the Ti-equivilent Pascal is out and about

I just watched the video myself. Not nearly as bad as I expected it to be from everyone's reaction. The guy was speculating and was pretty much right in the end anyway. Fiji was not as fast as TX and other cards were 2-4 year old rebadges. Lol.
Only part I thought he was harsh on was the PS4 not being an upgrade from an PS3 just because of the resolution not being higher. The upgrade is not massive no, but he made it sound much worse than it is. PS5 will hopefully be able to handle 1080p in 3-4 year time while we game at 8k. Lol

I see nothing wrong with Grid numbers. It's cpu gapped clearly. Scotty in his benchmark has 4790k @ 4.7GHz , that's why you're getting a lot better results. Try lowering your cpu clocks a bit, and you see direct scaling with cpu speed. Nothing new really, anandtech had good chart of gpu usage from Grid.

So it's not the card that is slower, it's just AMD drivers which can't feed the card. (This has already been discussed so many times, that I don't get it why it still needs to be mentioned).

A salvage part made on 5 year old process is best card ever made... reality check needed.
Ha, ok then, let's examine this. G1 is the fastest card out of the box, um ever. It's cheaper than the Titan X's and runs cooler. It's a single GPU made on a custom PCB. R.e the process, seeing as there are no currently no other GPU's running on 16nm/14nm yet, this old process is all we have lol.

Lol at the G1 hype. Being the first custom Ti with any sort of availabilty apparently qualifies it as teh bestest, nevermind the fact that the likes of MSI card, Zotac Extreme, EVGA Hybrid, Palit Jetstream, Asus Strix etc. etc. all clock just as well and many of them are less noisy to boot.
It's baffling why a card with huge bandwidth, lots of stream processors and 25% more GFLOPs than a TitanX is slower. If AMD drivers are not optimized then they should really be re-thinking their whole base code. They need a total rewrite for DX11 and the upcoming DX12.
The only thing that could explain the slower performace from a hardware standpoint is the lower number of ROPs.

I almost think they gave up on DX11/Crossfire profiles months ago and the 2 driver guys (Bill and Bob) have just been concentrating on DX12 for the upcoming Win10 launch

Being the fastest card of all current cards makes it the best
Awesome cooling and being cheaper than the Titan X's is a nice bonus.

Lol, I don't he understands. It's not hype with the G1. It's the first custom PCB not just custom cooling. (Not just a ref card with new cooling).
It's faster out of the box than all other current GPU's. Runs around 72C and has headroom for over-clocking.
Atm G1 is the undisputed king. Yeah the Titan X has more vram, but honestly who cares, this time year we'll be looking at Pascal, HBM 2.0 etc, and DDR5 will be old hat anyway.
G1 is the king.
Just a shame about all the people returning them because it is super loud.
I thought it was meant to be a quiet card?
Well if you check the 980 TI owner's thread a lot of people have returned them for the MSI 6G which is meant to be very quiet.
