I can 100% confirm that Pinapp multiworld plugin is the cause of the instant kill fire. Tested with 3 dif Bukkit versions with only this mod on 2 dif servers = same result that we are seeing after entering a portal fire = instant kill.

I think that plugin is the least used so pretty good it was that causing it.

Been doing some testing with multiverse. Took me about 5 mins to set it up. No fire bugs. Portal worked fine also no disappearing blocks ect on entry/exit. ps also compatible with world edit. Also when you step into a portal its faster than Pinapp. Multiverse has an addon that can scale the size of the nether so this could fix the nether issue.

I've used multiverse before and it caused issues (different ones to Pinapp and potentially less bad).

My main concern is about players having to use commands to set up portals. I'll check up on multiverse to see if this is an issue or not.
 
Sorry for triple post. I'll look into this tomorrow in the day whilst at work. I should be able to move us to multiverse (or another multiworld plugin) and sort out the other remaining bugs.
 
Could you please add spawn_uk to the whitelist please? He's a friend of mine and as I love this server it'll be great to get my friend on here :D

Would it be possible for my gf to be added to the whitelist? Would she need to be an OcUK member?

She would need an OCUK account but it doesn't matter if it only has 1 post etc as you would be pledging for her :) So once shes all signed up have her post her details on this thread and sign up to linktart.co.uk, then I'll be able to whitelist her.
 
I don't know much about modding etc. but one thing I thought might be useful would be a feature whereby holding a torch in your hand causes the same amount of light to spread around the player in the same way as if you 'planted' the torch on the ground.

I find an awful lot of caves and I rekon it would be pretty athmospheric to be wandering around with a torch in your hand rather than having to put them down every so often...

Is this possible?

There was a mod a while back that did exactly that but unfortunately it was extremely buggy. I'll have another look around...

Why not just have 1 portal at the spawn? Everyone has access to /spawn. This saves messing around with the portals and could save possible hassle in future. Could you imagine the problems that could occur is some1 was to build a portal that spawned on some1 else build in the other world? Also multiverse has had a major revamp over the last 2 months. Now onto multiverse V2 so the problems could be fixed.

That behaviour can happen with the default non-bukkit nether functionality.

I'm testing multiverse as we speak.
 
I've actually just put TorchLight on the server for testing - it's basically the same but updated for latest Bukkit.

I was just about to post that one.
Only thing i didnt like about it was it does the light on tools too
unless you can turn that off and only have it working on torchs

also reasion i liked the other one was it consumed torches
for each night time use. figured this was a good balance


whitelist off i take it for the test server?

Multiverse is configured but at the moment I'm holding off on putting it on as it requires far more admin intervention (players can't create portals themselves unless we give them rights that would be dangerous to give to lots of players).

However, I've also argued with the Pinapp developer and have a fix for Pinapp on the way :)
 
I noticed that player.setMaximumNoDamageTicks(2 maybe the culprit myself when looking at the code but was not 100% sure as that guy needs to learn to add more comments to his code. I wish C++ or Lua was used for creating mods in minecraft I could do it blindfolded then :). I am only just starting to learn java myself so limited knowledge on how it works.
