Have blocks will travel :)

\when i log onto the server and arrive at base is there a way i can go directly to my build site rather than walking the distance? Any help appreciated in advance ..... hey i am getting there slowly :)

I think just as long as I can take all my engines etc im happy for a new world.. Not bothered about my build, just all the stuff ive managed to horde!

Your allowed one "home" position on the server, which can be set by standing where you want it set and by typing "/sethome"
 
I'm also thinking about Forrestry and the like. I guess we should really wait for 1.3 to be supported by most of the mods though.

having played with forestry for a bit in my single player world i would really encourage you to add it in. you might want to ensure that people dont have overflows with fully automatic forestry systems though because i could see the lag getting horrific

we are looking at things like removing Rail Craft and adding steve's carts instead things like that

also what are peoples thoughts on ee - yes you can make tons of dims but I don't think that they are valuable in a mod run server also ee brings a wealth of other tools to the table eg destruction catylist etc.

I would just like to see peoples input.

Also do you think the spawn area should be traditional with builds only or show a wealth of all the mods and what can be achieved with them along with the builds?

:confused: would we not be better getting the current ones working without major lag issues before we started adding different ones with the potential of causing even more lag issues??
Just my thoughts

I think but don't quote me on this that the lag is more to do with corrupt chunks on the map and something more to do with optifine in the client in regards to the chunk.

Users are experiencing different levels of lag in certain areas sometimes its fine sometimes its unplayable. It also may have originated from the original multimap plugin that was removed. as certain areas of the map look completely out of place and this also shows with tostrings build.

Basicaly we believe a new map with a set amount of fully working mods with a prebuilt client should remove all the problems that we are currently experiencing, remeber we moved from tekkit to a built client without removing the map.

But if that should happen don't worry about any existing builds as there are plans on something new to sort that out.

I can't say I'd be happy about a map wipe. Whilst it may not be much compared to other people's build, my home with all its hidden features has taken a lot of time and effort to put together. I know you can copy and paste stuff, but it never quite looks the same when it's mashed into different surroundings.

However, I can understand that if it cures all the corruption and lag problems then a fresh start is probably a good idea. Just a necessary evil I guess.
 
As I said it's an if and maybe at the moment so nothing in stone. I'm just interested in seeing what mods people would like to see on the server.

I have noticed that a lot of players sort of got to the I have 4 HV arrays and a quantom suit and seemed to loose interest after that stage. Would say a pvp arena among other things interest anyone more?

i know i dont even play on the server but here's my thoughts:

- dont add EE: while there are a couple of really cool items it is ridiculously overpowered. i think the only item i would miss is the philosophers stone as a portable crafting table, the destruction catalyst, the mercurial eye and possibly the long life of the swiftwolfs ring. everything else just ruins the other mods

- dont remove railcraft: i've just started using it in my single player world and its great fun to get working, especially if you add the more trains and zeppelins mod

- if possible, nerf the quantum suit a bit: i dont know if you can do this easily, but is it possible to make it so the quantum chestplate doesnt remove ALL damage, but reduces it by a huge amount (more than the biggest enchant you can get on diamond armor)

mods i'd like added, assuming you have everything from tekkit already:
- logistics pipes (if there is an SMP conversion)
- mystcraft
- forestry
- portalgun
- secret rooms mod
- graviton suit*
- laser mod
- More trains and zeppelins
- MoCreatures

- thaumcraft 3 when its ready

*with a similar but slightly smaller nerf to the damage reduction as the quantum suit, but a reduction in power usage if possible because that thing eats power like there's no tomorrow

i havent tried it out yet, but computercraft and its turtles looks cool. someone also made an addon tat lets it take lots of variables from the minecraft world, which would probably be very helpful

But you've got to remember with this kind of game eventually everyone is going to lose interest once they reach a certain point and if you create a new map and copy across builds and resources then you'll start losing interest earlier as it doesn't take as long to build things.

taking away quarries would be cool just because it would force me to build a frame powered TBM :p
