*** Official OcUK Minecraft Server - Discussion and Rules ***

Are there many issues left to solve? if its mostly sorted and the build moves are all done I might get myself signed up on the Sunday evening.

do you guys know if stuff beyond the edge of whats on the live map will actually render if i set up shop near the edge, or will there be a massive void over there?

If they're using worldborder it pre-renders part of the edge and if for some reason your client is able to see behond the set boundary that gets renders and added to the map.

However it doesn't mean you can walk beyond the border, purely that you can see into it. Without something like worldborder you can just keep walking and rendering though.

Live map renders about 200 blocks outside world limit. Rough world boundary below:

Big cheers to Yrth for moving mine across ages ago...(very sneaky! ^^)

In regards to chests, we did some testing last night and it may be that the contents only copy when the player is online at the time!

Evening all! Been a few months since I played and I fancy coming back so I can sink my time into something while I'm out of work :)

Can someone tell me all the current details? I know I need to download mcforge but do I need the src or universal zip file, and where do I need to extract the contents to? Also, what's the current mc version the server's running?

Dear diary...

Yep, it's me again. Today I installed a completely fresh copy of Windows 7 on my iMac. I carefully patched and updated the OS fully before installing Java and a few other things and then proceeded to get the latest launcher from the Linktart server.

Extracting the files to the default folder on the desktop I found that the minecraftftp.exe does absolutely nothing and running \Desktop\LinkTartLauncher_v3.2\LinkTartLauncher_v3.2\mcp_data\launcher allows me to log into MC (choosing not to update) but then sits on the "Updating Minecraft" screen with the message "Done loading" and the progress bar at about 95%.

It does nothing else.

Any help really, really appreciated...

First thing - don't update the launcher, when it asks do you wish to update choose no.

What happens with normal MC?

the best guide is to follow one of direwolf20's lets play series, specifically 4. But it is very long (106 half hour episodes). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0hG7YGwy1w&feature=bf_prev&list=SP6EB679447DB05EC8

Duncan from yogscast does one which is a lot smaller and probably will get you up to speed quicker too :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qk58R6g7PGA&feature=list_other&playnext=1&list=SPF31FF54CE3BCA21F

I personally love the direwolf ones, he is an outstanding 'lets player' and you learn really easily from him, he's funny too :D

hope that helps mate, nice to see you back :)
