still running tests but currently server seems to have stablised
this may only be temp though. something has upset the server :P

to get in download the latest update but do not replace your current instance just add a new one then you should be able to gain access
 
New client downloaded, created new instance and it just crashes every time I try to log in, have done what the readme said with regards to the memory allocation and such.
 
Still working on the server guys client is up have a mess around in SSP it should be stable.

One thing of note please copy the instructions on how to increase your heap size memory there is a doc (with pictures :p) on the dropbox
 
Thanks for getting the new update out and sorted so quickly.

Do you want me to add a guide for adding the ars magica sounds, and to turn off IC2 sounds for whoever enjoys the sound of lava generators as much as i do?

would it be possible to regenerate the magic world now that we have ars magica installed. also, can you either regenerate the mining world or create a new one so that we can get a decent supply of vintium dust please

Does anyone know a new trick I can use to kill mobs in a drop spawner? Fences with water on them don't work anymore :(

Whats wrong with dropping them on the floor normally? was your trick getting exp or something?


if you are on the modded server then try using the iron golems with the visor attachment (i think thats the one) or using attack turtles and a water stream to push the mobs towards them (turtles is the most commonly used method). A brain in a jar will gather up to 1000 exp for you, which is really handy

Nah a year or so back I used to have water flowing over fences carrying the drops to a collection point. I've got 36 different drop points for the mobs this time and was half way through building a ridiculously complex set of channels and lava blades to kill surviving mobs and carry all the drops to a single collection point when I realised the fence trick doesn't work anymore.
 
what you could do is have a standard mob drop area with a row of water sources behind a piston gate. Let the mobs drop in normally and drop their drops on the ground. Then use an item drop timer to trigger the sluice gate for a little while and wash them into a hopper

you may also want the timer that triggers the sluice gates to block off the entrance to the mob drop area because the water may stop them from dying.

its been ages since i've played vanilla so this may have stopped working by now
 
Cheers sounds like that'd work fine, I also thought of having tracks run between all the drop areas, triggering pistons to close as you pass under them to stop mobs falling on your head. This would require stopping spiders from spawning as well as they often survive the fall.

The issues with all these plans is that 36 drop zones require a hell of a lot of pistons, redstone, and faffing around to get working. I already spent 4 days alone just trying to work out the quickest way to get water to carry drops from the drop points to the middle of the drop area -_-
 
Ars magica has had another hotfix. Apparently using the spell radiant shield caused a crash which has been fixed in the latest update

if you are going to regenerate the magic world, could you give it all the vanilla biomes but nothing else please. Ars magica still isnt working so well with extrabiomesXL biomes. Also different buildings only spawn in certain biomes, which explains why i havent seen any of some towers yet

Does it matter what MultiMC version we have? Just got the computer back up and running after falling out with windows 8 :mad:

I don't think so. as long as you have MultiMC 4.x it should work just fine. version 3.x might have some problems, but if it has the import existing .minecraft folder i wouldn't see any reason why it wouldn't work


Is there any way to get a list of entity IDs? I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that a couple of the ars magica mob IDs might be conflicting because at mage level 25 I should be seeing quite a few NPC mages, but I haven't seen a single one. I also haven't seen any hecates either, but I haven't been to the nether where they were most common last time I played.

I havent personally seen a mana creeper either, but someone asked me what on earth the blue creeper was while in game, so i assume they are working
