*** Official OcUK Minecraft Server - Discussion and Rules ***

Just tried it love the abandoned mines full of cobwebs and the dull yellow light from the torches.

As for the server reset. Despite the weeks spent under my house digging a massive cave I would be ok with another reset, as long as we could do similar to what we did before; put stuff in chests in the Pantheon and bring it to the new map. I wouldn't want my house brought across and I agree with the person who said it earlier that a new map brings that sense of pioneering. Taming the environment, building a house, and exploring the mountains and caves.

I guess the issue is that you have (at least) two types of players, the explorers who build a shelter and explore and eventually get bored, and those who love building enormous constructions that take weeks if not months to complete.

WAAH I found an enderman.

Also NPC villages are reason enough for a server wipe. They are very impressive. As are the abandoned mineshafts.

Agree that the hunger meter may get tiresome. Perhaps you can turn it off in the server properties?

Another thing (just to spam the thread more).

From what I understand there are probably major changes to the map generation in both 1.8 and 1.9 updates. Would people prefer a new world generated for 1.8 and then this new world wiped and regen'd for 1.9 or wait until 1.9 or...something else?

I've made my opinion pretty clear before that I'm all for a new fresh map with 1.8.

I've no problem with then another restart with the final release either.

As for builds and things, well some are amazing but I never put much in to my builds with this being just a beta game.

As for items and portals, meh, Personally I'd rather just say everyone gets two or three chests on a square of grass or in Panth and move that.

It wouldn't bother me starting just with nothing on a 1.8 map, Minecraft (while building is brilliant) is still a beta game and has always been about just trucking about and mining things for me.

I'm easy really, I do understand how annoyed some people would be with losing builds but really? It's a beta game, you surely expected it at some point?

I'm for a 1.8 map with nothing or just a couple of chests each.

What do they do?

I'm on my MacBook Pro in bed, it's not got 1.8 and I'm too tired (working very soon again) so don't want to settle down to have a look on Minecraft as 10 minutes will turn in to an all nighter.

They speed up/slow down the in game time :) So, if you are a wimp and want to skip night without getting in bed, hit F6 or F7 (Can't remember which one) and you will speed up the game :)

Finally! That first night where I literally just sit in a hole in the ground can pass quicker :D

Any pictures / info on how to fight / kill Endermen and their mechanics? I've not paid too much attention to them?

You need to keep looking at them and use arrows. Worked for me. They wont move whilst you look at them (crosshair directly over them).

Ah so if you look away they move towards you? What kind of damage do they do? Man it's going to be horrible fighting them if you have other enemies attacking you too.

Really want to see 1.8 but I know I'll get **** all sleep before my early start :(

I dont know really I didn't let it hit me :D Yeah if you are trying to keep your crosshair on it and something nudges you its game over. Apparently they will be super rare. I only found one and that took a while of flying around in creative mode fast forwarding so it was night time all the time.
