*** Official OcUK Minecraft Server - Discussion and Rules ***

The old dedi (which goes down on the 3rd) had some random issue last night and had a reboot. I'm currently moving the map files to the new dedi. After that I'll hand it over to Maxi/etc to deal with.

I'm not really up on what is happening myself so I can't comment. However, yeah, the old dedi is gone for the most part and anything that is being moved has been moved. linktart.co.uk should now point to the new dedi (as does rootserv.co.uk)

Really impressive looking mod server.

FrechTart - Are these particularly difficult to set up? With the spawn etc? I'm thinking of trying to make a FTB server to try out :)

Yrth and others do the admin/setup on this these days. From what I've seen it's a bit annoying to get your head round initially but once you've done that it's pretty simple to set up mods (though solving incompatibilities and such is pretty arduous work).

It is strange as it is not even when server is full sometimes only 1 or 2 people on. I think more to it today as both vanilla and mod server seem down. My guess would be some sort connection issue and not a game issue that has caused them to go down.

It must be something in the config/plugins to be honest. On the same dedi we had another private vanilla server running for a few people that had an uptime of over two weeks.

Yrth. Can you let me know which region file (or files) is in need of fixing? If we can put up the unmodified version and allow someone to download it they may be able to find a way to fix it without losing quite so much stuff.

I can't help on any issues but I just wanted to let people know that upon finishing the site redesign I will also be launching a new super-minimalist vanilla server. Mod server will stay as is (I don't know yrth's plans for it).

I doubt many of the previous admins will be around for the vanilla server but it will have decent anti-grief tools.

Same here, i used to play this game a lot. But it one of those games where once you have done your build there is not much else to do, However the admins used to do team event's like defend the castle ect.. to bring you back that was hell of a lot of fun not sure if they do that anymore. It's a game that will bring you back however i haven't played this since over year ago.

I don't think there are any admins around with the time/energy to run events any more.

If we can get a decent playerbase I may select some new admins to run that side of things/the servers.

No worries, we all have our ups and downs, get well soon. I've not played a huge amount myself been mostly securing the spawn area for others ;)

If Maxi is reading this there is a few server settings you need to correct, everything is at default resulting in an 33x33 area at spawn we cannot work on.
In the server.properties file:

spawn-protection=0
pvp=false
difficulty=3 <-- optional

Thanks :)

Are you actually playing on the current vanilla server? I was under the impression it has a population close to zero.

When is the Vanilla due to start then?

I'm still working on developing a lot of stuff (hoping to finish next week) and I move house at the weekend. With luck I will be able to launch things before I move but I can't say for sure atm.
