*** Official OcUK Minecraft Server - Discussion and Rules ***

Dear diary...

Yep, it's me again. Today I installed a completely fresh copy of Windows 7 on my iMac. I carefully patched and updated the OS fully before installing Java and a few other things and then proceeded to get the latest launcher from the Linktart server.

Extracting the files to the default folder on the desktop I found that the minecraftftp.exe does absolutely nothing and running \Desktop\LinkTartLauncher_v3.2\LinkTartLauncher_v3.2\mcp_data\launcher allows me to log into MC (choosing not to update) but then sits on the "Updating Minecraft" screen with the message "Done loading" and the progress bar at about 95%.

It does nothing else.

Any help really, really appreciated...

What happens with normal MC?

If your normal MC is screwed then it's probably worth ignoring any issues you get with the LinkTart launcher and just trying to fix normal MC.

Are you running 64bit win7? If so, 64bit java? Java 7 or 6? Etc. Changing graphics drivers is also worth a try.

32 bit Win7 with the latest Java it would download. It is on bootcamp on my iMac so there may be a driver issue but I was hoping this would work as the OSx install does even less :(

There's no reason it shouldn't work. I presume other 3D games work okay?

I'm not sure what you mean when you say "the latest Java it would download". There are specific versions on the Java website for both Java 6 and Java 7. Clearly you'll have the 32bit version but it may be worth trying to uninstall Java and then reinstall 7 or 6 (latest version of either) and trying again.

I just went to the Java site and clicked on the "Free Java download" button on the front page which then took me to v7 update 9. I didn't realize I had to pick a specific version...

You don't *have* to pick a specific version but when you're trying to work out issues then it's useful to know that there are specific versions available.

You could try out Java 6 for instance:

What happens with other games?

Hey! Now that the new server is up and running - Have you got rid of Tekkit?

Tekkit is gone. We still have some mods but they are built into our own custom client that you can download on the LinkTart site. You don't have to mess around with the Tekkit Launcher any more - it works pretty much the same as regular Minecraft in terms of sign in/etc.

Would it possible if I could maybe be moved some how out of the mining world? :p

I can delete your player.dat, which will move you out of there (and wipe your inventory unfortunately).

What's your MC username?

I like the idea of vanilla and starting fresh, although does it also include no utilities like lockette and iron chests etc?

Hopeful request: no form of teleport other than /spawn, make people work together and build transport systems from the spawn point :P. I've always felt like the community side of minecraft is underused, and transport systems were great fun back on the old servers, but often felt more asthetic than useful (also encourages people to travel around other builds).

I believe Lockette and several of the Bukkit mods you're used to will be on there.

I'm fairly sure that the plan is to keep some kind of teleport but Maxi/Saf may be better able to advise you on that.

It's llain :)

Hm, I might try a few other things first before you delete my player .dat :D

I've got 2 diamond chests, enderchest and quarry on me. Lappack and diamond drill too, plus some other items. Rather not lose them just yet :D

Try logging in and really quickly doing /spawn.

I'm not going to be checking this thread that often so I can't promise that your player.dat will get deleted particularly quickly if you come back later asking for it. Just a warning :)

I see some houses on the vanilla server, and as it seems to be working, does that mean it's now live?

It's definitely a test server at the moment so there's no guarantee that anything will be kept. Maxi can comment for sure as this one is his baby but I would imagine it would be wiped once he's happy that everything is working as intended.

If I had sponges etc on the original Vanilla server, are they gone forever, like my build LOL?

Generally speaking the admins tried to move player's sponges and other donation rewards over to the mod server but your period for getting this done may have expired. Yrth or 5punk would have to answer you on this one I'm afraid.
