Yeah it was good game of fence defence! One that meant I ended up making a lot of holes in maxi's fence...

I like being correct about things like this.

1.8 was never "ready" for a release when they announced it, so they've "leaked" really buggy versions in an attempt to keep the masses happy. Seems to have worked.

I'll give the new 1.8 pre release a go later tonight.

I'm really excited for having a new map on the server with 1.8 though, I'm not fussed if we move over chests or not either, a new start might be good. I think the stronghold could become the spawn point too; it could be a massive base for everyone?

Are people still against the map reset and in tostrings case is he going to stop playing if he can't bring items over? or has playing 1.8 changed minds?
 
for me a complete reset is good to go :D

there will be a possible 3 strongholds on the map now
still rare as **** but at would be nice to find all 3 and set them as different
villages/base camps for players. I say the people that find then should get to name the city :P

also i have been looking around the new 1.8 and have not even found one of them yet :(
been looking for over 2 hours
 
What confuses me is... 3 strongholds per map ok.
Considering the maps are near infinite, we might not get any in the area generated for the LT world.

Am I missing something?

Cant wait to play 1.8 again - was soooooooo much fun on MaxiLive's hosted server the other night...I kept getting lost and falling down holes lol

Having a (or the) Stronghold at the spawn would be a good idea. As much as people want to run around like headless chickens on the first night trying to find cover, I love the starter spawn hotel on the current MP map and I've also enjoyed bunking with the guys on Maxi's server at night (much to my bf's dismay lol)

I am totally for a total map wipe now. TBH after playing on 1.8 and then going back to the current map I've found myself wondering around aimlessly looking for things to do...a new map with new challenges would be awesome :D
 
k looking into the stronghold looks like it is underground :(
for most people i though they would be something nice and fancy above ground

oh also just to note.
One world i created has a HUGE ocean between land areas.
took me 20 min to get across it to find more land

Ooh didnt know they were under ground....hummmmmmm...Stronghold to me is something like a huge fortified castle or something not a cave in the ground...

Yeah i found that when I played SP creative mode. Three tiny islands with lots of sea in between...in the end i dug under the sea and fell into a huge mine.

lol yeah i could see load of underground caverns when going across the sea.
 
the strong hold as spawn sounds good actually.

especially as it means there's already a simple theme for the spawn and over time people can expand the strong hold in the style of the original stronghold.
