Just been reading about Silverfish and Cave Spiders in 1.8. The latter seems not nice at all!
seems like with it being much more dangerous udnerground now that we're going to have to start caving parties rather than signle man expeditions 
maybe 2 guys with nothing but picks (some wood for more tools) who mine and hold the ress, and 2 people tooled up with armour and stocked up with food and weapons covering their backs.

but also with food (unless it's full 64 stackable which if it is then meh no issue at all) being needed more inventory space will be needed to take supplies down which reduces resource carrying capacity, so the guards carrying the food + weapons and the others needing nothing more than their picks means more resources can be gathered i none trip.

Actually I think it is more dangerous up top at night in the dark than it is underground.
Sure there are some places that are dangerous (like when you have crevis and stuff dropping), but with the health recharge as long as you have plenty of food (and food is stackable now, so its easy) then you are okay.
If you are wearing diamond armour, have arrows and food then you are pretty much indestructable (maybe a bucket of water to).
