** Official omg I just got my 5870 thread **

so basically those games are optimized through Nvidia for SLI are only just keeping up with the 5870 in crossfire on beta drivers.

OK, but on the whole, did you not expect Xfire performance from the 5870 to yield better results, even at launch?

I did, particularly given the single card performance which is impressive.

It remains, at this moment in time for true dual card solutions, SLI 285's offer much better value for similar performance. Haven't been able to say that about NV for a while.

mind posting up a gpu-z and a screenshot of the sensors page wtih VRM temps and such?

Sure!

Im on the 21st Sept drivers straight off the AMD site by the way.

not in crossfire no. as a single unit yes.

So far it hasn't let anyone down on that front

you need to allow ATI some room for driver improvements for crossfire and also the single unit too.

Depending which review you read then yes 285's in SLI offer better performance over Crossfire but for me personally a single gpu unit which offers better performance over my 2 4870's and draws so much less power is a winner. whether that be ATI or Nvidia.

the 285 came out in Jan of this year if i remember rightly?!

Just had a peek, think the first GTX's came out June last year, so was a fair bit out in my calculations. Even at that, around 1.5 years old technology to keep up and better todays is still pretty impressive. Think I'll wait for the 5870x2.
