4870 > 5870 was 14 months.

Not wanting to sound mean but i would wet myself lol :D as nasty as it may sound :p you gotta admit virus you would have to see the funny side of it. :)


I've gotta wait till the stock levels are up before i order and sell my 2 x 4890's but im gaming at 2560x1600 so do need them ;)

BTW Virus thank you for pointing out that idle temp to me, turns out my intake and exhaust were at a 5v setting, now sorted back to 12v

What did you do to get your temps down?

Mine on idle are at 66.0
 
What I'm wondering is wheres the traditional spoiler from NVidia - i.e. new drivers with magic performance boost - or are they running so hard already with the 4890 that their out of breath and have nothing left - or did both companies get such pastings over such things in the past that they do it in the monthly driver updates now rather than wait for the opposition to "release" ?

This is not dig at NVidia - it would be AMD in my sights if it were the other way round.

You have to give them a quick stability test :D Just to cure the TIM and dry the lacquer :cool:

got both cards installed, :D

WOW lol but dam there hot lol then again i was running on default fan speed that doesnt speed up untill 90c+ lol

games run like rockets... tryed res evil 5 @ 1920x1200 8xaa16af
also enabled all settings maxed in game
also there is a new feature in the catylist suite

SUPER SAMPLING AA 3 adjustments lol

even with that maxed res evil benchmarked 120+frames :)
though area 3 is weird yet again freakishly dipping down and up like a yoyo heh

love the cards though and dam there long i would say there slightly longer than my 4870x2 that i had in :D

lowest card idle temps at 31c top card at 45c
need to reduce the top cards temps some more.

when gameing these cards are utterly butterly silent.

ok back to testing :D

How are you reducing your cards temps?
