*** Official OMG I've finally got my 5850 thread **

The 5850 is now more expensive as well as having poorer performance than a pair of 5770's in crossfire. I know some of you want to upgrade to 5850 crossfire in the future or you don't like crossfire and that's fair enough, but look at the ASUS in at 120 quid each. They have voltage tweak and a revised cooler so it's worth a look. Will beat 5870 in some benchies.

I had been disappointed about getting my computer a couple of weeks before the new amd 965's came out, but now I'm glad I did - the 5850 has gone up in price so much.

its ok saying this but if you don't have a xfire motherboard you can't really do much about it can you, i still can't believe they are £50 more than i payed for mine though.

5850s are still at £200 in a few places, one even had some stock for a few hours

Hmm, I can't seem to use the ATI overdrive feature (greyed out), 9.11's with a saphire 5850. Any one had a similar experience?.

Overall I'm chuffed with the card, plays everything I've thrown at it at max settings on a huge monitor, canny complain for the money!.

Probably a stupid question, but have you turned on the advanced settings?

Clicked on the Unlock button above?

Anyone else have issues with an XFX 5850? As soon as i install catalyst drivers and reboot, the login screen is black, i see a cursor, then black and red dots, then cursor again, and this cycles. I can hear the windows 7 start up ditty, but nothing can be seen. Same in VGA mode and Safe Mode. This is all versions of Catalyst too. Also,
Display driver atikmdag stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

I just went out and got a Sapphire 5850 Toxic ;)
Is quieter than my old 8800GTS.

Running games now with 16AF in CCC, tried COD4 and COD2 so far and all runnning sweet at 1600/900 and All game settings on MAX, so im happy enough, would have been happier had I bought one on release day and not now when the prices are so high, but MEH!!!

Time to see If this will run AVP ??? :)

Easily.
I've got one of the release day 5850's, running at 1920x1200, high texture, AAx2, everything else maxed.
There is some stuttering in places, but that seems to be a bug, not graphics power-related.

As well as some games don't support crossfire/SLi, but a 5770 can still hold it's own without crossfiring.
