Can I join someones outfit pretty please?

I'm all setup, and have been dotting around as the 'Max' class which is pretty fun.

Having said that, I've absolutely no idea what I'm doing, what I should be doing, or how to strengthen my character!

My station name is 'tommyv88' I beleive.

Such a pretty looking game!

Hi, I see you're on miller. I play NC rather than TR like yourself so I don't have any personal experience of outfits on that side but may I suggest you look at Better Red Than Dead BRTD. They are an outfit thats been around since PS1 so they can probably help you out. Brtd.net

After installing Windows 8 (it was only £15 :P) and getting my 670's SLI'd up again the performance on the hidden Ultra textures is great.

The game is looking better and fingers crossed the next big update (due in the next few days) won't bork it :D

Nothing but crashes every 10 minutes or so today.

Get a Mossy, fly around, crash, get a other one and fly around and crash. Last time... got a new Mossy and the moment I take off, the game crashes.

8 minute wait for the next Mossy, thanks Sony.

Nope, nothing wrong with my computer. Been working fine for the last week.

It's happening at the same time as some of my friends and outfit, we all crash together like the C4 glitch.

For the last hour had a alright game, we did a Max Crash in one of the Bio Domes running from room to room with about 20+ Maxes with Twin Chainguns all firing at once at the doors.

Felt good man.

Anyway, Kendo now, till tonight!

There's still some sort of hex crash bug/exploit going around I think, had 1 or 2 hex crashes since the patch to solve the hex crash was released.

Is it me or is using armored vehicles just a waste of time in most major battles? Didn't look at the recent patch notes but the lock-on launcher (decimator I believe?) seems to be in some major usage atm and it just tearing through armor like they are tin cans. I can understand that perhaps an entire infantry squad are out with those launcher and coordinating their attacks (much like that video someone posted a page or two back) but those situations should be far and few in between. Perhaps other squads have caught on, tonight was particular bad, I saw entire armor squads wiped out within minutes, most of the time you couldn't even see the missiles, vehicles just blew up. Also the range of the lock-on I have noticed is rather insane (been sitting in a mag sniping at a very long distance and very often still got locks from the base that is miles away), coupled with the fact that infantry can see any armor at max range, but rendering problems with infantry leaves them invisible till you get closer but you will long dead by then, which sorta defeats the object of having armor capable of ranged fire.

If this doesn't change, then the game will simply turn into a infantry rocket fest (it has already in most situations I have seen). Sorting the rendering problems would be good but probably not possible due to the nature of the game, an easier solution I think is simply drastically reduce the range whereby a person can lock-on to a ground vehicle and maybe reduce a little when it comes to air vehicles. I think that would work much better, I mean infantry already has the advantage of buildings and landscape to hide from vehicles, so sneaking up to armor would be more challenging and rewarding. As it stands PS2 will deteriorate pretty much to the same situation as shown on that video a few pages back, with people standing on the roof firing their rockets. I remember a similar situation in PS1, when they brought out BFRs, first they were so overpowered vs infantry that I remember getting @250+ to 1 kill ratio. It is fun for a while but I knew it had to get nerfed and infantry got a big boost to their rockets vs BFRs.

My 2cs, I do love PS2 but they really need to keep on top of the fact that no-one type of weapon/armor/vehicle should own and dominate the battlefield as this lock-on launcher does atm (and previously mossy/reaver rockets). Perfect balance will never be achieved I know, but neither should complete domination by a single element be a factor either in a grand game like this.

Here's hoping.

Rendering is the biggest problem in the game right now, it's not right that A can see B but B can't not see A.

Vehicles are big bullet magnets so you gotta becareful where you drive, think of yourself as a chess piece, if you in the wrong spot, you going to get a lot of incoming fire, find spots where you can attack the enemy and don't get as much return and move.

Staying in one spot will attact fire.

Personally, I don't see the big deal about ESF rockets, takes a entire clip to kill one infantry if he's moving, if he's standing still, then it's a half clip and since battle is pretty chaotic, then you don't have long to hover in-front of the guy to fire since the rendering distance for flyers vs infantry is a joke.

the lock-on launcher (decimator I believe?)

Decimator is the common pool dumbfire missile launcher.

The Annihilator is the common pool lock on missile launcher which does G2A and G2G, but there are empire specific G2G/dumbfire only and G2A/dumbfire only launchers too.

Personally I use the annihilator to scare off ESFs, haven't really used it in an "annihilator squad" yet but occasionally get kills/assists when I'm near a friendly burster max or two.

As far as armour not being worthwhile, I think it has it's place but render distance is jeopardising that in large scale battles. If they fix that it should be relatively balanced.

Also, I found that certing 1 level of stealth and IR smoke helped my lightning survive a lot better.

Agreed, ESF rockets are not insta-win like they used to be. Still wreck tanks, mind, but not for farming huge k/d ratios on infantry. I mainly use anti air missiles on Indar as there is always mozzies or reavers around to shoot.

They only wreck tanks if you hit the rear armour, but infantry rocket launchers can kill a tank with two shots in the rear.

At all other times, it can take least 3 or more passes to kill a tank, in big battles, it can take lots of Mossies making attack runs since half the rockets will miss since the vehicle is moving and they trying to avoid fire.

Been shot down by tanks with one shot because I was trying my best to get each rocket to hit. :/

So, still many crashes again today.

You all ready for the incoming tank changes? :D

Vanguard: HEAT ~10% velocity increase, AP ~20% velocity increase, Enforcer +acceleration (3x top speed) 5% increase top/side armor

Prowler: HEAT: damage +25%, AP: damage +20%, velocity+10%, Vulcan dmg over range evened - nerfed near dmg, increased far dmg.

Prowler Lockdown: major muzzle velocity buff when in Lockdown, Prowler AP turret in LD now has the highest velocity of all tanks.

Magrider: Reduced muzzle velocity for HRB (300->250).
