*** Official Planetside 2 Thread ***

lol I installed this and was totally clueless.
followed some vehicles across a bridge to a fight and maybe I'm retarded because I wasn't sure who were on which side XD

might be because I'm slightly colour blind though.

I'll have another bash later , is it loads of fun once you get into it?

You can change the colours friendlies and enemies display as in the options somewhere if that will help.

Yes I find it loads of fun, in fact it has rapidly become my main game. I would say though look at joining an outfit asap because as with any mmo a lot of the fun comes from playing regularly with a good group of people.

Anyone tried the purdy physx again yet?

I haven't personally but from what people in my outfit were saying it seems to work now. Though I'd imagine in huge fights it would slow down a lot.

Can it? I never knew, I'm keeping my mouth shut from now on :p

You'll hear 'enemy whatever spotted' so depending on the situation you'll know you've been seen and possibly get an idea from where.

The PhysX is tied exclusively to the GPU. Seing as I'm CPU limited 99% of the time on my 2700K @ 4.6GHz (I know... sigh.) the particles don't have a noticeable impact on my FPS.

The game looks noticably better with them on as well. Seriously, turn motion blur and particles on as well as high lighting and shadows (the real FPS killers) and be amazed. Night battles look especially epic.

Just started playing this game again after only playing about 4 hours since release. Is there any ocuk outfits i could join, ideally with a teamspeak/mumble so i can get the most out of the game.

What server and faction? There isn't a "OCUK" outfit, we all over the place.

Yes, enemy spotted and the voice menu can be heard by enemy players if they are close enough, so when you are screaming for a medic or ammo, that is shouting to everyone, please kill me now. :p

You can also trick enemy engineers in dropping Ammo for you by spamming the "I need ammo" voice command, then kill them for their reward. :D

If you are an Infiltrator, it's best not to use the cloak and darts if you in a 1on1 or if you in a small scale fight in a tower or something since that will easy give away your position. I only use my cloak for crossing large open fields etc and darts when I have friendlies with me or if I know who am up against.

I don't think they fixed the FPS issues for everyone. After about 1-2 hours playing, my FPS drops so much that flying really hurts. Last night on Miller in Esmair which was pretty much empty that I almost managed to cap 60% of the place myself, but I couldn't fly anymore, it was a sideshow. :l

Higby said they're still chasing an issue which most frequently presents itself when loading large assets quickly such as when flying over a bio lab, so maybe that could be what you're experiencing whilst flying?

Myself I've had no fps issues since the patch but I guess they're still working on it.

Re Physx - apparently the SCU exploding is quite pretty with it turned on.

I did read about that, that could be it.

Well the servers are back up, but they broke the login system. Seems most people can't login. I'm stuck at 98% so can't even select my character to login.

Incompetent devs just don't cut it, I honestly know that they would screw something up and I bet when we get inside the game, there be more screwups. Maybe instead of my tank bounching when am trying to aim, it would do a backflip and explode as well.

The official forums are given me 403 errors now, I guess they have turned the forums off to stop the flood of rage that they have caused.

/update: Forums are back online!

not dedicated to any yet.
I only had a 5minute blast the other day

Why is there somewhere I should be?

No there isn't any 'ocuk outfit' really just wondered because then someone might be able to help you out in game if they happened to be in the same place.

This is one of the things I love about PS2. It's great in an outfit/squad etc, but you can also have a lot of fun just playing by yourself - wandering around and getting involved in various things.

There's a lot of freedom because of the massive scale of the game and the endless variation of battles.

If you are having FPS issues with Physx on, go into the Nvidia control panel and select the option to run Physx only on the GPU rather than 'auto'. It's helped out some of my outfit members. (Strangely, this did seems to make it 'feel' smoother even though it didn't actually increase the frame rate for me.)

Im on miller playing for the NC and looking for an outfit.
Also is sub to this game worth it, what do you get?

Membership. For me it's worth it, but PS2 is my main game at the moment, for others it may not be and you can still play the game fine without it but obviously it will take more time to unlock things. Perhaps keep playing, join an outfit and see how you feel about it in a months time.

Basically you get increased resource gain and xp gain (1 cert = 250xp), the exact % depends on how long you sub for/have been subbed for, up to +50%.

I'm NC on Miller, running with Digital Legion we do a mix of most things but kind of specialise in rapid response infantry/galaxy drops, usually have about 2 squads on each night and more on event nights.

If you like flying a lot check out Airborne Task Force, good bunch of guys who really know how to use their reavers. Miller recruitment forum for some more options, we have plenty of decent outfits on NC fortunately so lots to choose from.
