*** Official Planetside 2 Thread ***

We are beta testing the ps4 release ;)

Well, I guess I am cynical enough to think that, wouldn't surprise me having played a few SOE titles and seen how they manage them but... hope not.

I can't wait for PS2 to come out for consoles, and I hope it is incredibly successful, after all console success will equal more content for PC, won't it? :)

Possibly, I think the console version will be on it's own servers though.

It depends how SOE play it, sure if it's a huge success great potentially, more money so more content. But if they then see the PC side as an unnecessary burden in their pursuit of big PS4 money, we'll be dropped with just one word from Smedley. No way they'd put PS4 and PC players together either.

The Chinese servers went live this week, there were queues of up to 500 people waiting just to get in. They are making plenty of money though, micro transactions and premium subs really hide how much people spend on the game.

I've spent way too much lol, Alpha Aquad, Premium Sub, £40 triple station cash!

4th of July is rumoured to be double/tipple station cash as well, just in time for the infiltrator overhaul, mbt gold trim and new Engy hats.

Wonder how much that was to do with their 'advertising' campaign there :p

Obviously if it's a big success on PS4 and the PC version keeps improving and growing great, I want to play this for years at this point but I've been burnt by SOE before so naturally a bit cynical on the whole thing.

Got 2000 certs to spend what are peoples opinion of twin Raven's?

They're nice but it also depends what else you have certed/bought because 2000 certs is a big investment in a pretty situational item and could possibly be spent better elsewhere (depending on what you have).

Good point I already have the dual AA and dual AT weapons for my max the reason I haven't got the dual Raven's yet as I though it might be a bit ott.

Worth it if you use AV a lot I suppose, given that the falcon projectiles take about three hours to go from your guns to the thing you want to hit :)

LOL, I do use the falcon's a lot but I use them to kill infantry, much more effective than the scatters cannons :p

Even if we're just talking about spending those certs on your max though, what else do you have?

Kinetic/Flak/Nano-auto-repair?

Shield/charge certed up?

How's your timer?

Extended mags on scattercannons/bursters?

My point was more that whilst dumping a big amount of certs on a shiny new weapon is nice, sometimes it's more worthwhile fleshing out the class with the not so shiny bits first. For example if you don't have flak armour certed yet I'd go for that, then the Ravens as you'll be facing a lot of explosive splash fighting vehicles.

Does anyone have any suggestions for good graphics/ini tweaks to improve performance. I've got a 7950 but paired with a measly Q6600 which is really struggling at 2560x1600.

Was playable previously but since the last round of updates I've got pretty nasty framerate issues, makes playing infantry almost impossible.

Do you have shadows and fog shadows off? They sap my frame rate completely. I've got a 7850 and i5 and gets 60fps+ on high/ultra with them off. Its a very CPU heavy game though so there's not too much to be done other than upgrading the CPU.

Shadows is definitely off (had it on low before but had to turn it down with the last couple of updates). Not sure about fog shadows, will double check that, thanks.

Tried it at 1920 but the graphics look really awful when not at native res.

This game is the reason my Q6600 was retired even running @3.4 is couldnt get close to this game.

Free to play, apart from the £700 in PC upgrades and 6 months of sub, but i still enjoy it even with all its faults.

I just hope its gets a worth while metagame before i hit BR100.

I'm getting such awful lag since GU11. It will cruise along happily at 60 fps then drop massively when there's more than about 2 people around. Making it really frustrating to play :(
