Yes they've disabled the option with the optimization patch as they need to do some work with NVidia to get it working properly with the changes they made to the game client.
This is effectively a AAA title. It's worth at least £30. Spending £30 on the game would get you loads of stuff/gear/weapons etc.
However, just like in any game, some people are just good and it's not just the weapons they are using. The basic tank weapons are just as good - I'm BR 81 and I still use the standard magrider main gun (the one you get for free in the beginning).
Being in a squad/platoon for a new player is a REALLY good idea. Stick close to your squad friends, and they will cover you, revive you, give you ammo, take bullets for you etc etc.
Remember, PS2 is a combined arms massively multiplayer game that makes 64 player games look like a joke. 1 man can achieve very little.
Get enough certs for the Skyguard attachment for the Lightning tank.
Good fun & handy for gaining xp when you can't be bothered squadding up.
Plus it'll annoy all the people that spend their waking hours dancing around in aircraft
Learning curve plus some good players. Not surprising. The game is not pay to win.. it is pretty balanced, starting w weapons are pretty good. Having a gunner is pretty much essential.
Just fired this up again see what OMFG did.
Well I have some sort of screen tearing and I got a crash to desktop after 40 mins. I never had problems crashing before. Performance wise it was a lot smoother.
Any ideas how to fix the tearing?
That aside I actually could fly properly without locking up etc so I might start playing it again properly and concentrate on actually been a pilot.

Had a other awesome moment this afternoon at TI Alloys.
Platoon of NC and supporting vehicles was attacking it when I deployed at the Crown, pulled a Prowler with just HEAT and traded a few shots with one or two Vanguards that forced me to repair, came back again and this time in a better position with some cover. Quickly took a few out as they had their rears exposed while making one retreat down the hill where the Ammo Tower was. Knocked out a Sundy, killed a few Lightnings then my jaw dropped as I saw a platoon full of infantry at the doors leading into the big building.
So this video quickly explains the feelings I was having as I started to lay into them.
Then as I saw revive grenades being thrown in the group of bodies which I let rise and killed again and not one friendly fire kill!
I firmly believe that I saved that base.

On a other note, the Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals are bad, doesn't give me much hope for Christmas and New Year. I bet we don't even get two weeks long XP like we did last year or double or triple XP.
They're pathetic offers and the more people buy on them the less likely we'll ever see double or triple station cash ever again. They aren't even as good as the one they did for 4th of July. That and the fact sales in the game are starting to offer less of a discount, e.g. 25% instead of 50, and it isn't looking likely I'll spend money on it again. I've got almost everything on my NC character anyway of course, some stuff I'd like on my VS but oh well.
At a time of year where they're competing for gamers money with Steam sales, Christmas, all the other black Friday sales, not the mention the new consoles they need to do better frankly.

It is patheric for sure, I just don't understand them. It's true we don't know how much money they are really making but when it comes to ingame currancy and virtual goods, it's pure profit.
I honestly think they would make loads if they did double or triple station cash deals, some people I know spend £100~ or more during the triple deals.
Well that's exactly it really, if they'd done double I'd have spent at least £50, triple probably more. As it is they did 30/25% and I spent nothing on SOE stuff and bought stuff on Steam instead.

My 2nd 6month sub ran out a few days ago. I had been subbed since day 1.
I wasnt planning on re-subbing as it isnt realy worth it as a long time player, when you look at it. Post BR 40(ish) the cert/xp boosts isnt realy needed. Im allready spending certs on stuff I never use.
After a few days of listening to tards playing crap rap at the warpgate while in a queue to switch conts I re subbed though. When your play time is limmited, spending 10 mins watching some dick shoot the wall isnt fun.
The resources never impacted me. Even in the 3 day gap I always had enough to by the tanks and stuff I wanted. I think if you play infantry heavy with lots of nades and c4 it could be a bigger issue.
There is a resource revamp "planned". Im hoping that being a subscriber has a bigger impact or is reduced in cost.

Pretty much this, especially the way DL used to play, or if I'm playing along with MCY changing continents a lot isn't unheard of and I don't want to sit in a queue to get to Indar in alert time. Then again because I knew I'd be playing this as my main game I did the 12 month sub back in March, whether I renew that next year is up to SOE so we'll see what patches bring to the table between now and then, need to see some content.

Well my main is Miller NC, I play VS on Woodman and it seems on average much easier than Miller, still fun though because like you say the same names, same outfits gets dull.
I'd say NC is better on Miller but we don't have a massive zergfit like SmurfGods or whatever it is on Woodman. We've also had population issues for a long while, Miller has been a TR server for months but this is improving lately and if the balance patch does what needs to be done then things will be good.
I'd recommend you check out Wasp (wasp-inc.com) once you've levelled up a bit, they're probably the best outfit you could join with a newer character. There are better outfits ability wise I guess but they require other things e.g. BR 50 minimum.
Also as you say you have Alpha squad do yourself a massive favour if you play heavy. Equip the EM6, the 'God SAW' is massively overrated and needs 300-430 certs to even be useful.
IW will no doubt tell you to join the TR, but please don't, they have more than enough people and always have done...
