*** Official Planetside 2 Thread ***

Got in! Ran around a bit without a clue, then saw some dudes. Of course I had no idea if the red names meant they were baddies or not so wandered around some more... :o

Eventually somebody shot me. In fact they shot me so hard, it turned my computer off. Harsh punishment. :D

Hmmm 550 in queue. Guess this is the bit where were all meant to sub grrrrr. Well ive blown through 4k in gear so think ill just wait before throwing more cash at this.

Baddies have no names. Look on your map and hit one of the deploy buttons, preferably somewhere showing a large chunk of enemy on the pie chart.

Sat in the queue for Miller, for 15 minutes, it logged me into Woodman as a different faction. Ok :(

Back to the queue again.

Had a bit of an issue when I first got in, after playing for 2-3 mins the game would flicker like mad and and all the textures would disappear and it would be like I'm floating in mid air.

Messed with some gfx settings and restarted and everything was fine, was on it for a couple of hours.

First impressions? I really like it. It looks FANTASTIC and runs really well for me. The stalemates of fighting at the same spot over n over could get a bit boring, but it was really fun when we were taking over the bases. It's a bit confusing exactly what you're supposed to do, but I'm sure that will come with time.

For a F2P game I think it's bloody brilliant. Can definitely see the temptation of dropping some money on it though.

If anyone wants to add me, I'm on the Miller server and character name is Neiley.

Took a few screenshots if anyone wants to see, they're nothing special: http://imgur.com/a/kgeKs#JmgA2

Not getting any lag or graphics issues - I do recommend subbing if you like this game though, instant queues to join and instant continent swapping is something I don't think I could live without.

Grrr. Downloaded the game up to 80%. Bought Age of Empires and started installing it. Decided to go back to installing Planetside and for some reason I've gone back to 0% :(

Ah, thanks for the heads up! Good job I didn't just lay down the pain and Team Kill for my first action. :D

I'll try and play tomorrow.

Is it just me or did they miss out the UK from the registration location list?

You may notice none of the EU is on there either! The registration system is laughable.

Unless they've fixed it...

Come to think of it, you're right! I didn't see anywhere in EU listed. Strange..

What faction are most people going for then?

TR - If you want the highest pop and best guns (easy mode)
VS - If you want a reasonable pop and good guns (medium mode)
NC - If you want a low pop and bad guns (hard mode)

I went NC :D

So I downloaded this but I have no idea what I'm doing and none of my friends want to play it with me. I'm literally just walking into enemy zones and killing people. What should I buy first with my in game money? A vehicle? Walking around is getting tedious.

You mean the certs or station cash? you buy vehicles with resources either way - you earn those whilst playing. The certs are for specialization and the station cash for customization.

There any TR OCUK outfits on Miller?

I imagine most people from OcUK playing TR miller are in BRTD.

I don't know how the currency system works

You have 3 coloured resources that you get from holding territory that tick in every 15 minutes or something based upon how much you hold. These are broken down into air, mech and infantry - you spend these on the corresponding vehicles when you pull them from terminals.

They also however get a cooldown. The certs you gain from XP helps with this when you spend them in specialization, you can lower the cooldown time of w/e vehicle as well as other stuff like performance and weapon upgrades.

Then there is the station cash which is the IRL money thing. You can pay to unlock weapons with this and buy things like camo and different helmet styles etc to just customize how you look.

Servers have been a bit laggy tonight.

I think it's the popularity of the game & it's causing a fair hit on the servers.

Stick with it and fingers crossed it'll be sorted soon.

NC FTW!!!!
