**Official Portal 2 thread**

A good thing until next time where those people that were "tricked" say to themselves, "Well actually this 'early release' won't be early at all".

It doesn't say "buy the potato pack, get portal 2 early".. It says that the more people playing the games in the potato pack, the quicker the release.

The dumb teens took that to mean "omg buybuybuy". No one has been tricked, and the launch is coming early- just hours not days ;)

I'm referencing the 'stupid' people that bought the potato pack once it was clear playing the games would lead to an early release. It's not possible to know how many people bought it after that point but im betting the number wasn't insignificant. It's that significant number of people that won't bother next time.

OMG POTATOES ARE DROPPING

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THIS MEANS BUT I WILL BECOME EXCITED ON THE INTERNET UNTIL IT BECOMES CLEAR

(If the count keeps dropping as it is, it'll hit 0 in 12-13 hours or so - would that tie in with an expected release time? 7am?)

Wtf is going on!

EDIT: It's seconds. I make that 761 minutes till the potatoes reach zero. Which is 12.5 hours. Basically it's a countdown to release, I imagine.

Second Edit: Yes, about 7am.

I just looked at it and wondered what was going on, thought they might be removing those that people cheated to get.

But at the rate the potatoes are going down surely that isn't the case.

Does this mean that if everyone had got fewer potatoes it would be launching quicker?

Talk about having the last laugh.

EDIT what the hell?

Valve didn't have much choice to do something as the predicted release date from the event was AFTER the official release date lol... people got so tired of doing it for nothing that the bar was moving too slowly :p

Kinda compounds my point that Valve should't have bothered thinking about an early release.

See http://www.gamingmasters.co.uk/portal/ as you can see the predicted release from the event was after the official scheduled release :p

I doubt it, they'd have just made them drop at whatever rate.

I suspect the release date was the release date was the release date, regardless of all this.
