**Official Portal 2 thread**

Silly €uroprice. Skipping Steam and buying a lot cheaper retail copy which of course is a waste of packing material and natural resources but paying 25-30% extra for digital copy is still not the way to go.

How can Valve ask £26.99?

I pre ordered the Orange Box for around that price (prices were in US Dollars at the time) from Steam and got 5 games.

If they reckon it's 6 hours game time for SP and another 6 for CO OP then it just aint worth £26.99

I'll wait a while until its on offer.

You're probably better off buying the PS3 version, from what I understand you get the PC version included.

Then sell the PS3 version and it will probably work out cheaper.

Just had a look around, pre prices for this are too expensive for a 6 hour SP campaign.

Well to be fair Portal 1 was essentially free with the Orange Box considering most of us bought it for Episode 2. Also, i thought this was meant to be a much longer game than Portal, certainly longer than 6 hours. I do agree that €45 is too much but at the same time Valve have never really let us down before and there's already talk of extra dlc being released further down the line (which I'm guessing will be the standard cost of free for the PC and PS3).

I was expecting them to at least offer a 4 pack deal for £20 each, like L4D2 :(.

Much like the steep price I'm guessing this is a product of the retail outlets throwing a tantrum. In a case like this they could probably refuse to stock not only PC copies (which they won't anyway) but also xBox and PS3 copies so Valve possibly have to play ball.

I'm torn, I want to give my money directly to Valve but it's inevitably going to be cheaper elsewhere for exactly the same product.

It's not cheaper elsewhere.

SimplyGames £24.85
Amazon UK £29.99
Game £29.99
TheHut £34.85
Zavvi £34.85
SendIt £34.89
Asda £34.91
LoveFilm £34.93
WHSmith £34.97
Base P £34.99
Laskys £34.99

When I built this PC about 16 months ago I bought a shed load of games and bought a fair few the next 6 months asap. But now with so many games i aint finished I have the luxury of not feeling the need to buy straight away and getting them a bit later cheaper.

I am looking forward to this one though!
