I think you're comparing apples with oranges TBH.

Portal is a primarily SP game and that is probably what most people will buy it for.

Are fans of the original Portal somehow not happy with it? I'm sorry but i fail to see how the logic used for the previous game fails to hold up. Portal was fairly short, no it wasn't a bad thing, it didn't go on for too long and drag things out and it was awesome. This game is maybe 3 times longer and i have no doubt it would be VERY easy to simply mash together another 30 test chambers and extend the gameplay by another couple of hours, but what would be the point from the storytelling perspective?

The only dissapointing thing i've found so far is the lack of the advanced and time/step/portal challenges (well not so much step).

With all the new additions, i'm sure mod makers can create some very interesting new puzzles. Portal was just as much about the story.

I played about 10 minutes of the SP campaign in BFBC2. That £30 was a complete rip-off by this logic... the 400+ hours spent in multiplayer clearly count for nothing.

In this regard you are right, but Portal 2 'Multiplayer" diffinetly wont have the same replay value as BFBC2 multi!

In that case people should really have noticed that the game was advertised as having a fairly hefty coop aspect.

I can completely see where people are coming from when they say that they only want to play one aspect of a game but you can't really ignore the fact that content exists when you attempt to measure how much content is provided with the game.
 
Just played for a bit - Seems very cool at the moment :)

I personally think Stephen Merchant was a perfect choice for a voice for that sort of personality :D Very very funny :)
 
... i not sure what i'm missing here, but i thought the original Portal was a most mediocre game and i have no intentions of buying Portal 2.

..I'm wondering if Portal 2 is meant for gamers with average specced PC's who can't play anything else. Honestly , i just don't get all the praises it's getting in the forums on Facebook/Twitter. And i AM a gamer.

Yeah he really didn't seem right in the footage released a while back but playing the game he sounds great.

why is that people complain about every single game thats released, then people complain that the game wasn't released over the weekend. Tbh 6 hours is about average for a game, but i play it in parts so i get more gameplay. Unfortunately cause iv'e been sick today and looking after my baby haven't had a chance to play :)

We are all gamers and this may come as something of a shock, but we all have games we dont like regardless of how highly others rate them :o.
