**Official Portal 2 thread**

was going to grab it in the sale but didn't have the funds will just need to hope its back down again possibly cheaper if valve have the thanksgiving sales this year. How long does the coop last?

I can't remember how long the main co op campaign took me and my mate, but the recent free DLC took us 4 hours to finish. That was 9 chambers and we only go proper stuck twice.

I'd say the main co op campaign took us maybe 10 hours, I don't know if that's a long time compared to others. Maybe we're a bit thick.

Hey,

Just finished playing this (both SP and coop) - amazing game! Probably the best of last year on PS3. Very happy, great job Valve tbh. Played through co-op with a mate; him on PC, me on PS3 - very slick integration between the platforms, and I don't think I did too badly on a noobpad :p

Need some random friends to "hug", and someone with a "virgin" account to help for the last few achievements - message me if you can help out :)

Cheers,

Su

The trouble with the achievement in question, is that you already know the solution to all the chambers. The poor guy with the "virgin" account gets a raw deal, because he will just have the solution told to him, thus ruining his chance to pair up with another "virgin" and both solve the puzzles together.

It's a horrible achievement if you ask me.

Why do you have to tell him the answers? When I did it I just let the other person solve the puzzles and just did what he asked me to.

You only need to do the calibration course :p

Also, on PS3, people just help each other by using a secondary account and just playing it through twice (e.g. I have a USA account, so will probably use that to help someone who helps me).

Guess it's harder for Steam players to do that :(

Just completed this, thoughts below:

+More of the same, which is a good thing
+Wisely expanded the 'tools' you can use with gels, light-bridges etc (although I thought the bridges and beams were a bit too similar)
+More narrative than the original, with a greater focus on a sort of movie style progression as opposed to a stream of test chambers
+Wheatley is excellent
+Some very rewarding puzzles when you figure them out, particularly some of the ones involving laser redirection
+Good physics e.g. collapsing buildings and the gel, didn't seem to hit the framerate much

-Seemed a lot easier than the original game, less focus on timing
-Game kind of petered out towards the end, I was expecting some monster chambers with lots of hazards late on (similar to Portal) but it never materialised, just ended up being "figure out how to make use of the gels"
-On a related note turrets were underutilised, I get a great sense of satisfaction from knocking them over :(
-Boss fight was a bit of a let down and it 'telegraphed' the solutions a bit too much e.g. splashing orange gel next to a portal-friendly wall
-Graphically sub-standard in places, the 'sterile' look felt less suitable than in Portal
-Ridiculously small levels i.e. you get bombarded with load screens every few minutes

All in all I really enjoyed the first half of the game but it faded a bit, perhaps the sort of game that would work well as episodic content (e.g. say 3hrs of gameplay every 6 months).
Good value for the £5 or whatever it cost, and I haven't tried the co-op yet.

Looks like we could be getting some easy to use level constructors/tools for Portal 2. Just saw this trailer:

http://store.steampowered.com/video/620/81613

It's only a tease, and not confirmed, but a modular drag and drop puzzle maker sounds like a good idea for Portal, most of the puzzles (at least early) are extremely modular and put together from set pieces, it shouldn't take the complexity of Hammer to do put them together.

Getting lots of new puzzles available through the Steam Workshop would be great imo. :)

Just a small bump to see who else keen for this. Comes out in 2 days time, and looks like one of the most well made editors out there. The simplicity in it is awesome.
