*** Official Prey (2017) Thread ***

So I've got a few hours into this now and after switching down to Normal Difficulty the game is really starting to annoy me. Enemy's constantly appearing which means I'm struggling to keep up any number of ammo. The combat is so clunky and poor. I'm trying to push on with the game especially with the top reviews but I'm struggling. Any tips guys?

There are times when running away is the best course of action. Weapons and ammo are also a bit sparse at the beginning.

Decided this game was worthy of a replay being one of my favourite games and I felt that there was plenty of doors and safes that I had not managed to unlock.
Now I have over a 100 hours on this game but only learnt yesterday about Combat Focus which makes fighting so much easier, really weird but at 65 weird things are common place.:p
Still a fun game though.

Just done my second overall playthrough at 25 hours. Started again straight away but going to do the opposite of what I did in that - not save anybody, etc.

Has anyone done a run without using Human abilities and just stuck to Typhon ones? I have started along this track but it seems like it's going to be very difficult - no repairing of machinery, no hacking, no inventory increase, no chipset increases, no health/psi increases. Is the game going to be horrible or do the typhon powers pack so much of a punch that it's not going to be an issue?

Oh, if anyone has done this, give us a tip as to which typhon skills I should be really investing the neuromods in. :p

Yeah it is a really good game but dont bother with the mooncrash expansion if you've been pondering it.

I loved Prey, one of the few games I've played straight through to the end, but finding it's a lot harder to get into Mooncrash, feels like it's missing something...

So I picked this up for £3.99 the other day in the Steam sale.

It seems to have a bug with Xbox one controller input. I have googled it and tried a few of the suggested things.

I got it to work once by opening steam big picture and choose the Xbox pad in the settings. Played a couple of hours no problem.

Went to play again and it is not picking up the controller despite now having the Xbox button promts! Doing what I did last time does not seem to work this time.

I even download a DLL from NexusMods that should fix it, however the game does not even launch with that, says something about the version is not compatable.

No suggestions of the obvious KB+M please haha.

Thanks,
Sean

Unfortunately, I never found a way of getting it to work with a gamepad on Steam. In the end, I played with M+KB. But the Windows Store version works properly with gamepad. Maybe get a refund on Steam and repurchase on Windows Store?

Seems crazy they never patched it or something!? It is included with game pass for £1 for a month. I may just get a 'demo' version though, as it normally takes me a while to play a game. Only seems fair if they never bothered to patch it!

Thanks.

I just got the game and am loving it. Xbox 1 pad works great but for some reason you have to enable it in Steam options. I use m and k and switch to pad for hacking as it's much easier.

It did used to work perfectly but the last patch they did broke the gamepad!

Now I'm at a desktop I can give proper instructions on how to enable pad in Prey.

In Steam settings, go to Controller section, the General Controller Settings

Then simply tick Xbox controller or PS4.

Then the pad will perfectly in Prey. I switch between K&B and game pad seamlessly during gameplay.

Seems stupid to have to do this when my Xbox 1 pad works without changing settings in every other game but, that will make it work on Prey.

Haha came back to say its working, this is what I did. In normal steam rather than big picture and it worked first time.

Thanks anyway,

Sean
