!!**Official RAGE Thread**!!

Where? I seriously doubt that this is true.

I don't know I read it in relation to the dead island release I think. Or it was a twitter comment that got deleted, something along the lines of the US being more forgiving of buggy PC releases' than Continental Europeans (probably due to the cost difference). It was posted on the internet by somebody therefore public but at no point did I say officially stated by ...someone connected to a game company because I can't prove that.

The patches being ready for the European releases would indicate it though.

You should choose your language more carefully then as the way you worded it it sounded like it was something official that you were relaying.

I can well believe that Bob Random on the internet said anything.

Got the latest graphics drivers? :p

Some people seemed to have better (less buggy) results on older drivers. It'll be interesting if someone manages to compare.

Forcing AF and/or vsync apparently helps with some issues too.

There's also a fov fix. I'd have kind of hoped that this would just be settable via console though.

My use of the language was correct in this context. Everything on the internet is opinion unless backed by empirical evidence or checkable facts.

There is never going to be an official statement that publishers knowingly release buggy software in the US first because there more forgiving if a patch is expected. The evidence backs the statement as do public comments made by developers and publishers that have no official backing.

The console is off by default but can be turned on in the standard config file.

The main issue I hear is texture loading but that's vague due to the numerous set-ups and hard-drive configs.

Defrag will probably be essential for a 20GB game if on mechanical drive.

SSD will be a non-issue I'd imagine.

Is there no native AF? :\

Just connected to my mates PC, VPN in as an American, everything is in $ but still not unlocking :( Wonder if it's because the state I've chosen.

Your wording was unclear, hence your use of language wasn't as good as it could be.

Of course there is never going to be an official statement. This is the very reason for my first reply to you. I also do not agree that there is evidence to "back the statement", nor have I seen any public (even unofficial) comments by developers and publishers that suggest that this is true.

I don't know. I'm just parroting what I read on the forums :)

There's also an option for GPU texture streaming that helps. Apparently this isn't on by default. This might already be common knowledge though as I'd definitely heard of it before.

ID and "buggy" - nah, can't see it personally. They (and Valve) are an utter world away from the likes of EA and Activision, who would intentionally make things buggy and charge for patches if they could get away with it.

Yep. I've yet to play an ID game that isn't polished upon release. :)

Bleh, Friday for me :P I'm took chicken to try to VPN in case my account gets banned, and knowing my luck it probably would. I'll keep busy reading reviews and stuff, and watching the Steam forums and the "THE SKY IS FALLING" posts which are always entertaining.
