!!**Official RAGE Thread**!!

Anyone else envisage a HUGE texture update to say the least? id should be embarrassed at some of the texture quality in this game. Basically every indoor environment is a blurry mess, you get some ok texture work indoors but if you look around theres plenty of really low res stuff. The only real decent looking textures you see are driving around in the canyons, character and weapons models. Its 2011 and its like we took a quantum leap backwards 10 years at least.
 
I'm getting really bad issues with this game, upon loading new areas I get blue screen and texture corruption, texture pop up everywhere and stuttering sounds. got latest drivers and a fairly beefy machine so this is really inexcusable. Im not even going to play anymore until they fix it.
 
So far the issues seem to be:

AMD/ATi graphics problems are the biggest issue followed closely by similar reports on nVidia mainly performance whereas AMD is corruption and finally Intel cpus stuttering or freezing game, seems to be focused around Core2 mainly. So far the only 'one that got away' appears to be AMD cpu's.

Wow, 3 out 4 major components is a good hit ratio! Shocking.
 
How's the crossfire scaling for this? Does it scale out the box or is this another 'wait weeks for a profile' release?


Theres bugger all scaling on crossfire or sli, that being said it really doesn't seem to need it to perform well. I only drop to 45fps on driving scenes because of the third person view point and wide field of view.
 
Its a shame I just been playing this a bit, looks fairly good to me. I like the idea of the game. But I keep getting micro stutting every now and then and frankly it annoys the hell out of me.

Also for whatever bloody reason teh updated beta drivers have stopped any MSI Afterburner settings including turning the bloody fan off ! So i rolled back the drivers and now the stutting is worse. So this is going to sit in my steam list of games until it is fixed properly.
 
I played this initially with the 11.10 BF3 drivers on 2 x 6870, looked great, but ran like crap.

I then removed drivers and went to the 11.9 drivers with the profiles, runs a lot better now, but it seems to now disable AF by default? Or at least it looks like it has? 16x AF is forced on in the drivers, but when I load into rage, it looks like it's turned off, as the textures just blur out in front of you? Is this all they did to increase Rage performance in the 11.9s?!?!

Also, I'm shocked with the total lack of graphical options in the game, is there some sort of external config that I'm missing or is this seriously it? This screams of console port :/
 
just reached subway town with 8:51 hours of gameplay , i wonder if thats as far as the review copies allowed you to get as it would make sense of the "abrupt end coming out of nowhere" they all went on about after around 9 hours

It seems like every new release ATI have some sort of driver issues.

There are comments in other forums with the 480 reporting issues.

"Outside of the screen-tearing which is awful, no. Even the 16k textures aren't pushing VRAM usage past 800MB - yet you're supposed to need a 1.5GB card for them (which i have) "
 
Perhaps if people post cpu / video card and how much vram we might be able to see a pattern or trend.

5760x1200 Eyefinity

New campaign game loaded, got outside, got to the car pickup bit, locked up, had to kill the game via task manager.
Averages 25fps, no AA.

PC2 (my PC):

5970 @ stock
Q9550 @ 3.8
4gb
5760x1200 Eyefinity

Game played through to dude in cars house, till it cranked down to about 9fps, so I quit. No AA.

Both PC's running Catalyst 11.10
