***Official Rift Planes of Telara Thread***

there isn't one yet

He's on about flaws there ;)

Absolutely fantastic game. Having ADD-I I get bored of games fast, but this is keeping me gripped, It feels like Aion to me, and a splash of Warhammer thrown in. Much better than WoW. Only gripe is Guild Wars 2 and Starwars The Old Republic are out later this year....

i was only answering his first question :p

well i think your both bad people for helping me out :p ha

Thanks guys, i may get it, i did like Aion other than the flying mechanics and the glitchyness. Warhammer wasn't too bad either. I hope theres some good PvE content though as i struggle in PvP sometimes!

May buy this soon then :)

I also have ADD and although I really enjoy RPG and MMO type games, I tend to bore very easily and stop playing after a short while. I usually stick to FPS type games as they somehow keep my attention.

However, I've not really played a single FPS since I started playing this during the headstart which to me, can only mean that RIFT is actually really quite good.

This game feels like a mix of Aion and Warhammer, with wow's noob friendlyness and TBC quests :p

Had my level 38 warrior hacked the other day, strange as i'm normally very vigilant with websites and browser addons etc.

GM's said they'd try and get my stuff back, but im not hoping for anything.

Sadly hacking is only going to continue to increase in mmos. It's such a lucrative thing to do, the same will probably happen with any future mmos which get decent numbers of players. I expect accounts to get hacked in swtor and gw2 too. I suppose ultimately if we, the players, didn't provide the demand by buying golds, items and accounts then there would be no supply. Supply and demand and all that. Hopefully I will be in the population who doesn't get hacked but if I do, then i do.

Indie, there is quite a lot of PvE content including raids with expert levels.

encouraging that people are drawing comparisons with WAR - very tempted to give it a go but kinda enjoying raids in wow at the mo plus GW2 isn't too far off which frankly makes both games look pretty weak.

Goes to show mmo's have shockingly poor security. online banking has fasntastic security and has a much more lucratvie in it. So imo MMO's can do a far better job at security.

If players didnt keep buying the items/golds/accounts, then there wouldnt be anyone spending time hacking thousands of accounts in order to get the stuff to sell to all the buyers. Kind of like drugs, if there was no people buying the stuff then there would be no dealers because there would be no market.

Though having said that, security could be better still, though as we all know no security is 100% secure, but can still be tighter than it is. As I say, so far, in almost 15 years of MMOing I have never had my account hacked (maybe I have just been lucky), all I can do is hope that continues to be the case.

Some people who play MMO really need to get a life. who the hell would buy someones account? this is plane sad and redicolous. buying someones paypal account is MUCH more feasable and more sense in that then buying a ****ing mmo account.

someone people are down right pathetic and said IMO

Usually its people who dont want to spend the time to level up a character and get the items, they have the money instead so they just buy a maxed account.

Excellent, i think i'll buy it after this weekend then, only because i'm busy this weekend! don't wanna buy it and waste 5 days worth of playtime!

Quite sad that people are getting hacked already though, you'd think they'd provide a similar thing to the Authenticator that i use in WoW/Final Fantasy.
IMO All collector editions for MMO's should include something like this. I reckon they'd sell more! Peace of mind and all that!

Absolutey nothing to do with poor security, it's people being stupid and greedy.

Edit - I stand correctly, apparently there was a login vulnerability :

Edit 2 - it's a really good read actually : "The response was insane. I wasn't contacted by some support flunky with no authority to do anything but read from a script, I was on the phone with the development team lead. I sent the technical details and got a call back within minutes. Left work to head home, and by the time I got home the server team lead was calling. Before I finished eating dinner the exploit was fixed, some extra features were improved, and all of Telara was cursing my name for making them go hunt down an unlock code in their emai"

I suspect its only a matter of time before there is an authenticator , including them with collectors editions is a good idea.

Any idea of sub numbers for this?

Seems to have launched smoothly and i've not really noticed an in game tail off of players. Seems the best mmo launch in a looping time and would be interesting to see how it's doing.
