i reinstalled this the other day, i have a few lvl50's, had bought SL but never played it, first impressions was exp when your 50+ is extremely slow as f2p, so much so that i just logged off in boredom.

Re-installed this yesterday also, taking ages to sort out some new builds.

Regarding leveling, like nearly all MMo's these days it's actually too fast so I'm not sure what you were doing ? If you follow the story mode and pick up the side Q's for that area (and do the event's) the experience flows in at silly speed.

Really? i found it very slow :( i started again on my 31 cleric and after a few hours of questing i had gained about a 3rd of a level, just seemed a bit slow to me, switched to a 51 mage, couldnt find any quests where i had logged him out (been about a year since i played him) run around found a quest, and some carnage mobs done a couple of those and noticed the exp had hardly moved, and realised it would prob take about 8hrs at the rate i was going to fill the level, decided i didnt want to spend roughly 80 hours plus getting from 51 to 60 :(

Oh how terrible, you actually have to put in effort to gain a level.. I'm sorry, did you miss the "press to gain level" button?

Well they have enough of them if you sub/pay in the shop where you get 20+% experience gain per flask. Although they had them from the start IIRC. You used to get like 5 at the beginning of your sub.

Hahaha. I was thinking the same before I read your post.

Plus probably leveling very far from optimally, considering length of time spent away from the game. Didn't really give it a chance.

Umm not really no, i played EQ1 and DAOC for many years, i know what slow levelling is and im not bothered by it, but RIFT seems a bit like WAR was in regards to poorly placed levelling hubs, i hit 51 on my mage the next lot of quests were all 53, which meant i had to pretty much grind Carnage quests or go and quest in the other starter zones for SL, which i dont mind but i had already done them on my Rogue, so wasnt entirely thrilled at having to basically be forced to do them again.

I dont mind working for levels if the game has enough interesting diverse content to glide you along so you dont notice the time passing, however when your pretty much forced to grind to achieve the next set of quests its a bit disappointing imho. coupled with the fact i was solo and didnt know anyone to atleast talk to to try and figure out the best course of levelling, and the general chat channels seemed to be filled with people talking about HEarthstone kinda put me off a bit.

Im willing to give it a another go, possibly start from lvl1 again and figure out whats what, i enjoyed the game upto lvl50, i levelled 3 characters to 50, i just found SL expansion was a lot slower to exp in than i remember Vanilla Rift being.

So no, i dont want an IWIN button that gives me insta lvlxxx, if i did i would go play WoW or EQ2 or something similar

I didn't mean to cause any offense, so apologies if I did, however I just levelled a character from 1 to 60 in about two weeks, admittedly I was new to the game, so it was all new to me, but to be honest, I found levelling in Brevane and Dusken to be pretty quick, yes I jumped from one side to the other, but overall, I was surprised at how much less grindy it was, compared to the 1-50 run.

Currently doing events, events and more events, in order to start gearing up my poor little wozid

I dabbled in Rift a few months ago and I'm thinking of giving it a proper go.

I don't mind dropping a bit of money into it (not too much though).

What is it best to spend on? Is it the 'Storm Legion' and 'Dream Souls' pack/s? And where's the best place to get them?

Nightmare Tide was released yesterday as I am sure everyone is aware. Very low key for an expansion release. Three new zones, five new levels and it's based around the Plane of Water.

I was skeptical as a lot of stuff is underwater, but I am part way through the first zone so far, and it's been done really well. I've just hit 61.

SUDDENLYRANDOMBUMP!

After my thread the other day asking what MMO to play, I decided to give this a go. I'm currently a level 14 cleric so take what I say with a pinch of salt:

Feels a lot like WoW: TBC in terms of junk in your bags. One item that takes up a whole slot (which at my level are very valuable) for a one hour buff for a stat you don't use or need. I've gotten into the habit of junking anything that isn't glaringly obviously beneficial to me in some way or a crafting material.

It's all over the place. So many things to learn and look out for, but I'm getting there. Earlier today I was thinking "why the hell is my entire map filled with little chat boxes?" and then it hit me, I needed to do a quest in which I use a soul mender person. Did that, suddenly nobody wanted to talk to me any more, so I need to keep that in mind.

It'd be nice if you could sort quests a bit easier. As it is I've got a load of quests which are probably redundant but I don't want to delete them in case they offer something useful.

Not being able to use the auction house without paying for it is a bit silly, but I can see the motives behind it. I also noticed that the auction house was dead as a doornail, is there an economy in this game, or does everyone simply gather their own stuff? The trade channel in the main city was also dead. I'm used to seeing tons of people crowded around auctioneers and people getting desperate in the trade channel to sell a piece of cloth for 500g.

Combat feels good, really like it. I'm still a bit confused as to my roles but I have a couple of really hard hitting abilities so I'll probably try DPS until I've got a bit more of a hang of it.

So far I'm enjoying it, but it feels unnecessarily complicated at times although this could just be me needing to get into the swing of it.

Any tips are always welcome :)
