***Official Rift Planes of Telara Thread***

Sent an app in for the guild in Shivermere - probably wont be hardcore but would like the opportunity to play the game with people who I can bet aren't a bunch of muppets with the possibility of some end game stuff :)

Some input from people on high pops server and their Rift experience would be good.

As it seems Covenant moved early on to avoid the queues of high pops servers, but so far Shivermere is absolutely dead, I'm into lvl 40s now and I've had very little interaction with people whilst questing, had two PVP encounters outside of warfront, and done about 6-7 instance runs.

I enjoy the game, but I find it hard to muster enthusiasm to play it sometimes since it'll just be me doing quests on my own, and if I'm very lucky, the LFG tool will get a group together for something.

I have seen your post on the forum, I have added your toon to my ingame list, so will invite you when I see you online.

Also, anybody got a Blade Dancer spec (Assasin as primary off spec). I had a clook but cant find anything specific... most sites ar eblocked here at work

I use a Bladedancer/Riftstalker spec on my rogue when I am pveing, found it poor for pvp though so its not a spec I use in PvP, I swap to a different role for that.

I've been on Shivermere from the start and I agree the server is getting very quite.

Even as a tank, I wait ages to get a group any time after 11pm.

To the new guys, join a good guild and do most of your instance runs, questing with the fellow guildies, unless you like questing on your own?

I don't mind questing on my own, that isn't an issue.

The main thing I want is a large number of guilds that raid, pvp and then just large general guilds, so I have a good choice of things at level 50.

I'm currently being hassled by a couple of WoW guilds to reroll and raid with them for the Firelands patch but that would take up all of my free time and frankly I don't think I can be bothered.

I like Rift and I'm determined to give it a chance, my girlfriend does too which is a bonus :p

Playing with some people on here would be good but I'm not hearing good things about Shivermere or the guild :(

Ah, you're in the OCUK guild, any good over there?

Its not too bad at times, particularly the weekends. Quieter during the week though. Not much world pvp going on sadly, most people tend to be nice and wave or just pass by. Occassionally though I get something more promising, got killed by a guardian player the other day and when I rezzed he ran over to me, said he liked my build and looked forward to our next fight and carried on his way. I generally run with a red is dead policy so I attack enemies when I see them.

Will be interesting to see what happens when the server transfers come in, I am expecting there to be some kind of consensus on various forums for people to migrate to a specific 5 or 6 servers to bulk up the numbers there. I know that Whitefall is absolutely packed and has queues often.

The guild split , the raiders forming a new guild (Harmless), hit the ocuk quite hard really, nice bunch of people remaining in the guild but not in large numbers now.

Shivermere does seem to suffer from the increasingly common MMO trait of lots of people moving about in silence, barely saying a word to anyone who isnt either in their voice chat or in their guild. Pity really that MMOs have become SO introverted and isolationist but I guess thats just how things have gone in the genre, much of the time in MMOs now you might as well be playing offline with npcs :(

However, on the plus side, I'm enjoying Rift, havent got a level 50 yet, got 6 characters and enjoying swapping from one to the other and the different playstyles, theres never a time when I log in and dont have something to do :)

Wow doesn't really suffer from the people in silence problem, which is unfortunate as 99% of the spam in channels is children being moronic.

Its usually guild chat that tends to be the only thing worth reading.

Hehehe, yeah sometimes silence is preferable :D

Indeed!

Anyway, at the moment my mage is level 28 on Blightweald, I'm in a random guild with some 'ok' people but I wouldn't call it particularly active.

I'm just wondering if I should change to a big server or not, sooner rather than later.

In terms of actual populations, I think Blightweald is quite close in numbers to Shivermere. Not sure which one has more, but I believe they are similar. Whitefall appears to be the out and out "big" server. I think the server transfers that are coming will create several big servers where most of the population is.

I suppose it boils down to whether you want to do those 28 levels again now or wait for the server transfers (whenever they may be) and move to whichever big server at that time.

One thing which does bug me about Shivermere is that our PvP cluster is with 2 x PvE servers and 1 x RP PvE server. Seems downright stupid to cluster PvP servers with PvE servers for pvp, but there you go.

Well, the 28 levels didn't really take me very long. I quite like leveling so I'm not too bothered about that.

I would wait for the server transfers but they are going to operate in much the same way as WoW free character transfers do and they will be trying to get people off big servers instead of letting you move onto them.

I'm also tempted to play Cleric instead of Mage, so I have proper tank and healing options for LFG, etc.
