***Official Rift Planes of Telara Thread***

Well, the 28 levels didn't really take me very long. I quite like leveling so I'm not too bothered about that.

I would wait for the server transfers but they are going to operate in much the same way as WoW free character transfers do and they will be trying to get people off big servers instead of letting you move onto them.

I'm also tempted to play Cleric instead of Mage, so I have proper tank and healing options for LFG, etc.

Yeah I'd expect the transfers to operate that way too, though I could see maybe a forum led agreement by many different servers to all move to the same one to form a high population one.

Certainly like all the options available for characters (not as comprehensive as Daocs 30+ unique classes, but its definitely more flexible than many MMOs), currently I have a Cleric (lvl45), Warrior (lvl45), Rogue(lvl29), Mage(lvl30), 2nd Warrior(lvl29), 2nd Rogue (lvl23). :)

Yeah, judging from the Shard forums Whitefall looks pretty good.

I don't really mind queues either, I can just play Football Manager while waiting :p

I wonder if any people from here fancy rolling there *nudge nudge*

I don’t understand why people roll 2 of the same classes... especially a game like Rift where you can buy 5 build slots and it only costs 50g to respec. We have some guildies who have done the same thing!!

Please explain :confused::confused:

Whitefall was going to be the shard the OCUK guild was going to roll on, but on launch day, we had wait times of over 4hrs.

Plus most of Russia have rolled on it, so just a head ups!

Oh no, not the Soviets!

Its ok, I'll give it a whirl later on and see what I think :p

I like to keep things seperate in my head, I find it helps me play them better. Take my 2 rogues for instance...

Rogue 1 , has a melee pve role, a melee pvp role and a melee mixed role
Rogue 2 , has a ranged pve role, a ranged pvp role and a healing role.

I just find that keeping them as seperate characters help my mind keep them distinct in my head and that I play each better as a result.

Cant really call the bard a healing role! but I know what you mean....its more a support role.

I'll probably stick with the Defiants anyway.

Oh, what would you say is the best leveling spec for a Cleric, bearing in mind I want to steamroll everything at a decent pace and not get stuck on 'hard' quests.

Havent tried them all yet, but I've found a combination of Inquisitor , Justicar and Purifier/Sentinel to be quite effective for levelling, whilst also having enough firepower to handle a player if they jump you out in the wilds.

got massively bored with rift - any tips for starting again?

Given that sentence my single biggest tip would be...

To assess why it was that you got massively bored with it the first time round, then see if that cause has been addressed and if it hasnt, not bother, because if whatever caused you to be massively bored the first time round hasnt changed then you will simply end up getting massively bored again.

Without knowing your circumstances I'd say have a look through all the classes on the official site: http://uk.riftgame.com/en/classes/index.php and then make your main soul the one that catches your eye most of all. If you look through the official forums you'll see all kinds of suggestions of what soul combo you must be to level up and how certain souls are completely unviable and so on but it's all lies really. As long as you go with the soul(s) that you really want to play (not what people say is best) then everything else just kind of slots into place.
