***Official Rift Planes of Telara Thread***

How does the game play? I still haven't really found a good MMO for me since Ultima Online. I got into WoW for a few years since launch, but it really has outstayed it's welcome for me (not to mention my PC won't run it for some reason).

How hard would it be to get started? Are there a lot of new people or is it just seasoned vets?

In terms of housing, can you store stuff in them, can they be looted by other players?

It's not on the level of UO (pre-trammel) BUT it's one of the few MMOs I've stuck with, and I've tried most. MMOs which kept me playing: UO, DAoC, early SWG (which was very uo in regards to skills), vanilla WoW and Rift.
If you pick one of the medium to high populated servers there seems to be quite a few new people - the first 20 levels are also F2P, so might be worth checking them out to see if you like it.

Cheers mate, I will give the free trial a go to see how it plays.

Anyone know where I can pick up the Storm Legion expansion pack for cheap? Thinking of coming back to RIFT as I've been dying to get back into an MMO to tick me over until ESO is released.

The best I can get it for at the moment is £15.83 from ShopTo using reward points and topcashback.

16 quid is cheap. You can hardly complain about investing just 16 quid into a game.

I've been back subbed since just before Storm Legion was released and It's superb. There is so much to do and explore now, crafting has tons of new additions, new souls are great and it feels a lot more balanced. I can happily join warfront after warfront and PvP all day long, which is also great for levelling. Prestige levels used to be 135k per rank whereas now they are around 8-16k so top level 50 PvP gear is accessible to casual players now.

It's well worth re-trying if you have played it before and if not just have a bash at the free to play (upto level 20).

I thought I would shamelessly plug my website here. I had grand plans for it back at the launch of the game but due to time constraints I never did anything with it.

Now that Storm Legion is here and there is a lot of things that people are unsure of, I have decided to write and publish some guides in the form of a blog!

So far I've got up some guides for a couple of achievements, step-by-step guides to getting your first dimension, and a video guide for obtaining the M'Doidoi Dolls in Ardent Domain, with a lot more guides coming in the near future - Got to love having too much free time.

nice one Jegethy, I will have to have a read through the Dimension guide as I haven't really got a clue what to do.

i am wanting a casual game to play to go alongside my other games i dont really fancy playing i have never got past level 20 in this game but i relaly like the look of storm legion. i am currently on icewatch shard, is this the best 1 to be on and i need a guild to join. i was wondering what people are thinking of the new souls ect and the new housing side to it, is there a level requiment to start the house or do u just need SL lol

I've been playing this again since Storm Legion was released and GW2 hasn't had a look in :p .

To be fair, I mostly just PvP via warfronts , but I've levelled my alt Cleric above 50+ and the new area's are truly stunning plus there is just so much to do.

Fingers crossed that has worked now. Do I need to be on the same shard as you?

Nope, not as far as I know anyway. I think you only need to be on the same shard as me for the second benefit:

When you Ascend a friend, you will both gain the following benefits:

Your Ascended friends' characters will receive the Novitiate's Phylactery, a trinket that increases all experience gained by 5% until level 20!
You and your friends will be able to summon one another once every 30 minutes.
Your Ascended friends’ characters will be automatically added to your Friends List, and your characters will be added to theirs.
Your Ascended friends will earn the in-game title, “The Chosen.”

Welp, since Adventurine has done the most idiotic thing I have ever seen by a games company - I have decided to give RiFT a go, as I need an MMO lol. Anyone know where the cheapest place is to pick up the original game? Thanks!

For free from Raptr.

Raptr has a rewards system where in some games you receive a reward for achieving a specific rank (which are achieved at set hours played). You only need Amateur rank which is 4 hours of play time. The reward received for reaching Amateur rank in RIFT is a free copy of the base game. It will probably take you longer than 4 hours to reach level 20 so I would just play RIFT Lite until you get the full game for free. Remember to download the Raptr client and sign up first though.

At the moment though all of the codes for free copies have ran out. Although I've heard they are often updated with new codes.

You can pick up the base game for £10 from a lot of retailers. Although if you want it for the cheapest around I'd suggest picking up the Storm Legion Combo Pack from Shopto.net. The combo pack is the base game and the Storm Legion expansion pack for £22.85. The Storm Legion expansion pack on its own costs £16.85 making the base game cost £6. You can also use TopCashBack to get 4.04% cashback on your purchase from Shopto.net.
