***Official Rift Planes of Telara Thread***

In the same way that pretty much any MMO are similar games?

Not really. More that it just *feels* similar when I'm playing it, which I can't say about a lot of the other MMOs I've played.

There are obvious differences, but there's a lot that's very similar. I'm not criticising Rift (quite the opposite in fact) as I'm quite enjoying playing it, and it's in part due to that comfortable familiar feel.

Just downloading this now seeing as it's free.

Haven't really gamed much lately other than some WoT but am in the mood for an MMO atm. Haven't played one for a good year or so now and have the itch again for some reason.

What is this game like now, I am trying to get my friend into trying MMO’s out with the traditional set-up. Do you still get a few people playing this game?

As far as I know the population has increased a fair amount since going free to play. I haven't actively played it for a few months but I did pop on recently and the server seemed pretty packed.

There is a big server merge happening for na/eu severs atm.

Haven't played this in beards !! decided to boot it up and luckily after the server merges I only had to change one name.

Seems to be quite busy on the shards now, but alas PvP is still garbage...unless you have a fully pimped out character :(

I wonder if anyone here is still playing this?

I have been playing a lot of Rift over the past 2 weeks and it has been fantastic. A whole host of new dungeons and chronicles were added in the lead up to Christmas. Very busy too with lots of groups happening, I haven't struggled at all to get involved in the T1 raids.

Definitely worth a look if you are a bit bored with the other MMO's at the moment, I feel it is very underrated.

Yeah, started again over xmas and I'd forgotten just how slick it is. Really good f2p model too, haven't really been restricted at all so far. I like the fact that exploration is almost always rewarded. Take the time to climb a mountain and the chances are you'll find a cairn at the top with a blue item in it.

I still play it but only for the war-zones. Leveling my warrior purely from PvP which is quite good fun. It's a great game, there's plenty of things to do.

I actually started playing this about a week ago for an hour here and there. So far so good. Really like how polished everything feels and the variety of classes is pretty awesome. My biggest gripe so far is the combat, it feels very sluggish and I'm really not used to pressing a button and waiting for global cooldown to push the next button. I know it's early days and I'm only level 17 but it really doesn't feel as exciting my usual MMO of choice (Aion), hopefully it gets a bit better when more skills get unlocked.

Anyone still playing this?

Made an Elf Rogue on Gelidira the other week and really enjoying it a lot more than the last time I tried it a few years ago. Seems really polished now.

I'm giving this a go while the Warcraft bordem run's its course and new content comes out, in anycase I'm playing an assassination rouge and its much the same as you might expect, the game world looks great and folks so far have been pretty friendly... you know I'm having fun with this and I'm even considering putting some money in.

I'm now trying this out as a healer after getting a bit jaded with Guild Wars 2.

What's the best European shard (world) to join?

Or should I go for North American?

Depends what you're wanting to do, for the english speaking pve shards I think either Gelidra or Typhiria is fine, if you want pvp I think its Bloodiron.

Doesnt matter hugely which you choose now as everything is cross shard, you can join a group for dailies from another shard, just right click their portrait or group icon & choose "join instance" to go there temporarily, after your done with the group you can stay there for a bit or right click your own portrait & choose "return to home shard", afaik if your not happy with the server you pick you can migrate to another once a week for free.

I've been on and off since the beginning - problem is it doesn't as smooth as it should for me. It's one of the worst optimised MMOs. I have a quad-core i5 haswell and a 780 but it only uses 1 core of your CPU.

I also didn't fully like the move to SL, mostly for personal preferences, I don't like the whole carnage questing and hunt rifts were boring after a while.
