Didn't see the Wire game on TV. Is there anything in the Ben Currie charge of deliberate contact with the ref?

Banned for 2 matches after submitting an early guilty plea.

I remember seeing it at the time and the only reason I really noticed it was because the ref shouted at him as the two sides were packing down for the scrum.

I can't remember exactly what the contact was but I think it was grabbing at his arm to get his attention because he was aggrieved at the awarding of the scrum.

Rovers on telly tonight in the rarest of all things...a Tuesday night rugby league game! Already hate the fact they are on Thursdays but when Friday night football is back and if the Prem League vote in for more midweek fixtures I can imagine RL coverage may get a little "lost".

Good grief Rovers don't do things the easy way! Had a game winning lead and managed to throw it all away but thankfully Albert Kelly saved the day with a try off the restart with a few minutes to play.

Another 2 points and Salford now out of the race for the top 8?

I see #newera has kept all RL fans on the edge of their seats as this thread drops off the first page :)

Its been a competitive season so far, with nobody being able to maintain any form. BUT, does anybody think it will be anything other than Sts v Leeds at OT in October?

Wigan are in 3rd and have won 3 away games all year. They have ground out narrow wins at home v Salford and Widnes. I hope they are going to come good at the back end of the season, but its not looking good atm.

HKR look to have put all their eggs in the CC basket. I really hope it works out for them

So do I because its all we have left! Bitterly disappointed at the way we played against FC and with it went our chances of the top 8. Pretty miffed by that. Hoping we can make it to the Challenge Cup Final.

Got to agree with you on the Leeds v Saints final, Leeds have been a cut above the rest this year.

All being said though Tony, Wigan are still 3rd!!! I know which league position I'd rather be in!

Leeds really were good last night, was very impressed. They would probably have been disappointed that they weren't out of sight at half time though.

Just about to set off for Headingly! Nervous but excited!

What a brilliant day! At least 3/4 of the attendance was Rovers fans, we had the south, west and half the north filled and it was great! The atmosphere from the Robins fans was awesome, one of the best I've been witness to.

Lost my voice now and time for a beer! Brilliant!

Bit of a relief to get through Leigh today. Looked bleak at half time but Leigh fell away sharply after 50 minutes and were practically nilled in the second half. Some odd decisions from Thaler to go to the video ref for our trys when he was stood mere feet in front of the groundings, especially the Puletua try....God knows why he had to review that.

Tough game out of the way though as Leigh will no doubt have been confident but I guess its one of their first majors tests ina while and has ended their huge unbeaten run.

Disappointing news that Albert Kelly is a doubt for the Challenge Cup final with knee ligament damage.

Coming across to Widnes this weekend or watching it on Sky? I'm tempted to drive up from Reading but might wait for the Salford & Leigh games at the end of September.

Depends on what I'm doing but I actually live in Lowton, so its pretty easy to get to all the NW games. Leigh is a 5 minute drive!

Gonna be a hard game and I'm not sure how Rovers will approach it in terms of resting players for the CC final and either writing the Widnes game off or just give it our best shot with whoever is left. Then again it may be a full strength team.

Went to Rovers v Halifax and was nice to see Scott Murrell playing for them. It was a dour atmosphere because we knew it would be a straightforward win. Just a shame we didn't post more points as points diff could be significant between 3rd and 4th.

A bit of a reality check for Leigh over the last few weeks. It all boils down to how they perform against Wakefield in the league game and (most probably) in the play off. I think Wakefield have strengthened enough to keep their SL place.

A close game and Leigh a little unfortunate but I think they did lose to the better side. I can see all Superleague sides beating any of the Champ sides in the fourth place playoff. Perhaps an early indicator that one-up-one-down is perhaps the way to go? Or maybe even a call for franchising to come back and actually do it properly this time, rather than allowing Cas and Wakey to keep plodding on with their dilapidated grounds.

Very poor quality game it Widnes v Rovers today. The first half was dire, Rovers error compounded by a Widnes error until the ref blew for half time.

I'm sorry to say it kemik but I was surprised at how little Widnes offered today and I think three times they seemed to forget it was the last tackle and turned the ball over without asking a question at the end of their sets.

An unexpected two points with a very much second string side (key players being rested for Wembley). Still can't see anything other than a Leeds win but you just never know! :)

What an anticlimax the final was. Never been so disappointed at a Rovers performance. Never even looked like scoring and Leeds were quite simply flawless and thoroughly deserved the win (and the scoreline, to be fair!).

Oh well, Superleague status confirmed with another easy win. Not sure I'm convinced by this Middle 8s competition. For Rovers it has been a complete walkover and for the Championship teams it very much hasn't...

Quite a surprise result at the Shay today with Halifax upending Leigh. Surely that is the end to their promotion hopes.

The million pound game is surely between Wakefield and Bradford? Hoping Bradford make it as Wakefield were woeful during the regular season.

Leigh not playing very well at all today and Bradford have been completely on top. Look a different side to the one that was demolished by Rovers last week.

Bit of a shame really as I was hoping they would have made more of a go of it. Gareth Hock again proving why he's a total liability. Just a thug, every single game I see him in. If I were a Leigh fan, I'd want rid asap.

I'm not sure it has worked. I thought it was a good idea before it happened. But now, I think the middle 8s have been fairly predictable in that the SL teams finished in the top 4. It was a breeze for Rovers, quite honestly.

If Bradford come up at the expense of Wakefield then fair enough, but I think Leigh should have been promoted in a one-up, one-down system. They were the better team over the course of the season and Wakefield were dire over the course of the season. I could quite easily see them getting turned over by Bradford on the weekend. I think the current system would work better if the gap between SL and the Championship wasn't so large.

I suppose you could use the same argument to state that whoever wins the league leaders shield has been the best team over the season, but the Grand Final is always rated above winning the LLS.
