Monsoon type weather and a pitch that definitely needs relaying made the Wigan v Cas game a bit of a slog. Wigan got to 18-0 up by getting into Cas' 20m once! They scored 3 penalties, a 90m kick downfield that Burgess aquaplaned in from about 10m and a dummy half scoot following a 40/20 that got them into Cas territory for pretty much the first time. They cut loose a bit after that and scored a couple of good tries, but it was a weird scoreline. Cas had loads of good ball.

Wigan handled the much bigger Cas pack - not comfortably, but they didn't look overpowered like they did earlier in the season. The Cas scrum half had a really good kicking game, but so did Smith.

Big game next Friday. It won't be 60-0 that's for sure.

We'll have improved by then....so.....59-0! :D

Yeah Wigan got a taste of their own medicine tonight and they didn't like it one bit. A few good shots on Tomkins, Farrell and some dumb play from McIllorum and the tide turned.

Dane Tilse and James Green were absolutely immense tonight, long minutes, good defence and solid ground made.

I'm still shaking, soooo nervous at the end!

They seem to have Wigan's number at the moment.

That's not what the aggregate score would say though!

I think you're right about the first 15 minutes. It was crucial that Rovers got through that as unscaved as possible in order to restore the belief that they CAN beat teams like Wigan. I was still a bit nervous as our bench still wasn't that strong, with the likes of Sonny Esslemont on the bench (turns out he wasn't even used).

Looking forwards to the Leigh V Wakefield game today. Will be a good potential marker for how good Leigh are this year.

Just got back and am absolutely shattered. Turns out you couldn't move between the stands but after a while the stewards got fed up and everyone started moving around freely. Not sure how people felt who may have paid more for their tickets!

Pretty poor effort from Rovers and FC thoroughly deserved the win. Was good banter later that night in Newcastle in the various bars. Was talking to a fair few Wigan fans who were pretty pleased with themselves! Stayed in a hostel in the end. Weird places hostels but had a bed for the night to sleep off the monstrous amount of alcohol I consumed throughout the day!

There were some in the opposite end to the Widnes fans. Weren't many, but they didn't have much to cheer about either.

My internal organs still hurt after all the alcohol consumption.

Exciting game last night and hoping for more of the same tonight.

Safe to say Rovers are disappointingly confined to the middle 8s this year. Hugly disappointing after what looked to be so promising at the start of the season. Injuries have absolutely killed us this year.

Rovers were a better side this weekend with the return of James Green and Adam Walker. Missed those blokes in the middle of the park. Would be good to have Tilse and Lunt back soon too.

Still not sure on the Terry Campese injury, going for other opinions but could be a month or could be 6 months! Disappointing if the latter.

Wire on Friday, minus Anthony England...

Locke tendering his resignation at Salford. Quite a fall from grace that but to resign is quite surprising. I wonder if Salford were in the top 8 he would still be resigning or he's got the Travis Burns about him and felt he was too good for the club.

Rovers hot and cold season continued last night with a red hot performance against Wire. When we're good, we're really good, but we're really inconsistent!

Albert Kelly though, that man is a freak of nature, along with Maurice Blair. What finds. Blair is arguably our best signing for this year (better than even Campese!).
