*** Official Rugby League SLXXIV Thread ***

Catalan were really, really good. Wigan weren't. I said after the previous game that Kasiano would be a handful when he got a few games in him and that proved the case. Catalan totally domianted Wigan's pack. 30+ points with no half backs against what used to be a really good defensive side. Wigan are consistently inconsistent. Performances like this must put a big question mark over the coach.

Great occasion and great for Catalan. Get Tomkins and Smith back and they will be genuine challengers this season. The challenge will be to back up again next weekend at Anfield.

It was funny in the first half how the Sky commentary was almost comically biased against les Dracs - 'Wigan are the clear better side', 'Catalans not a top five team', 'remember how Wigan stuffed them last time they met', 'Catalans players already puffing, out of breath, trying to slow the game down' etc. They quit banging that drum after Mead's first try when it finally dawned on them that they might have it a little wrong :p

Bird is obviously out for Magic Weekend. So's McIllorum, and Tomkins isn't fit yet. Matty Smith and Lambert Belmas are back though.

Need KR and Broncos to win tomorrow (KR might be a forlorn hope, are they five losses on the bounce in SL now?). Getting down to crunch time in the season, and I want to see the level of panic at the RFL if it starts looking like Leeds will get relegated and Toronto promoted to replace them :D

Another win, and thanks to Huddersfield beating Hull FC we're now by ourselves in third place.

I didn't see what day 2 attendance at Anfield was, but day 1 was just slightly lower than the Camp Nou fixture last week.

Hull KR are too good a team to be where they are in the league but to not score against us with 11 men in 10 repeat sets is criminal.

Tell me about it. We just never looked liked scoring then at all. Credit to Wire's defence but that was awful from us. Lineham lucky not to have got a red, looked like he went in with his head aswell!

Tim Sheen's quits with immediate effect :confused:
Not sure it was "quitting", more like replaced!

Tony Smith announced as new coach. Wow. Didn't see this weeks events coming at all. Brave move from Neil Hudgell there. Time will tell if it is a good move, but I am a big fan of Tony Smith from his Warrington days, so who knows.

A bold move though, there's no denying that!

Just in time for the visit of Wigan. New coach bounce + general malaise at Wigan should swing it for KR. Beating Wigan is not the coup it was last year and earlier

The club built up an announcement today that turned out to be the extension of contracts for some younger players + the signing of Mitch Clark and Jake Bibby. Not quite what was expected. The club seem to be doing their best to pee their fans off atm

Hull KR will now win the league before Warrington I can see it happening.

Took him a few games to get into the swing of things at Warrington. I am still a big Smith fan.

Always liked the bloke. He always used to make a point of shaking Rovers players hands after a game, win lose or draw. He's a top bloke as may I say, was Sheens, no greater example than offering to pay for Minns mums funeral. A true gent.

I actually liked Mitch Clarke when he was at Rovers but then he quickly fell out of favour, much like he seemingly did at Cas. Maybe he's a difficult player to manage, who knows, I just have my suspicions that all is not what it appears with Mitch.

That was the lowest quality game I've seen all season. At all levels. I thought Wigan were a disorganised shambles this season, but they certainly met their match last night.

Actually listened to the Sky feed last night. Turd polishers extraordinaire to talk that up. Is Phil Clarke on Class A drugs? Seriously, is he?

Widnes going part time next year. Didn't expect anything less seen as the RFL withheld most of the payments and stripped a load of academy funding. This from one of the best academies in the country? Smart move...

I've pretty much given up on Rugby League. Live 200 miles from Widnes and will continue to support them financially, but I never get to the games and have zero intention of watching any wider rugby league with the management that is in place at the minute.

Looks like we're going to defy our recent (poor) form by winning a match of Rugby League! Dragons 32 - 6 Wakefield as I type this.

Mum & pop are down in Villelongue again as of this morning, hopefully the locals will be in party mood tonight :)

44 - 10 fin du match. A welcome return to winning ways.
