How much do things change from BIOS to BIOS? In terms of CPU overclocking?
It's gonna get annoying test an overclock to find that things have changed once a new BIOS is released.
Procodt was the key for me. Before they added that 3200 was all I could manage. 56/60 is the most common.
Good stuffAfter testing that seems to have worked procodt 60. Will see how I get on.
Thanks.
Good stuff
Well I had fun yesterday...
Built my new Ryzen system and all was well until I attempted a shutdown and restart (to add my game drive).
No post.. *sigh*
Spent the next 5-6 hours trying all different approaches to get it to successfully post after a full power cycle to very mixed results.
It is really odd as once in Windows it seems perfectly stable (running multiple different benchmarks), but if I shutdown and try to restart it doesn't do anything.
I get no errors showing on the LED Readout (Tachi) which simply cycles through all the numbers / characters really quickly.
I *think* it may be my RAM but I am stumped as to why it seems stable in Windows and only causes an issue from cold boot (with no boot error codes).
I have tried the following:
- Updated the Bios to both 2.40 & 3.00 using the Bios Flash from USB method.
- Tried memory in all 4 slots and one by one - No change
- Tried with and without my game drive - No change
- Tried with a different GPU (Nvidia Titan so relatively old) - No change
- Cleared CMOS using both the on-board button and jumper - No change
- Tried just the basics and got the usual No GPU or No RAM error codes - as expected
The only "fix" that got it to boot again seemed to be a Clear CMOS followed by 10+ minutes of switching everything off.
Once it finally posted I was able to get into Windows only for it to happen again when powering off. Temps seemed fine when benchmarking (using the stock supplied cooler with AS5 thermal paste).
Specs are:
- Asrock X370 Tachi MB with latest bios (3.00)
- Ryzen 1700 @ stock
- 16GB (2x8) Corsair Vengeance LED 3200Mhz RAM
- Samsung 960 Pro 500GB NVME SSD
- KFA2 GTX1070 @ stock
- Thermaltake Toughpower XT 675w
Is anyone able to provide some advice? I can't think what else to try beyond buying different memory and trying that (TBH even if the Corsair stuff struggle at 3200Mhz I would expect it to be fine @ stock).
The last time I had boot issues like this was on a DFI Lanparty back in the early A64 days.
Haven't messed with mine in a while and running 3333 instead of 3466/3600 for more stability - anything changed with the new BIOS for CH6 to bump that? Or wait for the coming AGESA update before bothering to update again?
Currently testing new bios I'll let you know if anything improves.

New BIOS for Crosshair VI?
Yep it's on the official site now, 1501.New BIOS for Crosshair VI?
Newest, not necessarily released officially but plenty of beta ones posted by Elmor on OCN (he's a developer at Asus)
