I ran some performance numbers from my 4790K against my threadripper OC'd at 4Ghz (with spikes to 4.2Ghz). It beat it by 10% which was very surprising to me, as my 4790K is clocked at 4.6Ghz.

Threadripper crushed it at Multithreaded obviously but nether the less I was pleasantly surprised. :)

I have a NXZT Kraken X62 on it right now. Can't wait to get a full plate cooler for it and see how far it can be pushed.

Good to hear!

I'm tearing my hair out over the waterblock situation. I'm getting close to grabbing a cheap EK MX and making my own mounting kit.

Just a small update, I've just been enjoying using the PC. I've had to make next to no tweaks, other than enabling XMP for the ram. It all seems very stable, cools fine on air for standard usage too. I feel like I should be tinkering about trying stuff, but just never felt a need to yet.

Good to hear :-)

I've got fed up waiting for the EK block so as a stop gap I'm buying a friends Corsair H55 AIO that I'll be picking up tomorrow. It's small and prob doesn't have the capacity to cool the 1950X properly but at least I'll be able to get all my software installed and configured ready for starting back at uni in a couple of weeks.

It's a shame that it didn't come with some kind of cooler in the box. I never had anything to make use of the brackets, so it felt like a backwards step to buy something old that wasn't quite the right fit.

Ok, stop gap aio installed so working on tweaking mem, stable at 3466 c16 :-) just running some baseline benches.

Well Sorted my cooling out. Spent 8 hours working on finishing up and thats what I got now

After 9 hours of running Nicehash miner (pays the bills like electricity and gas ) gpu+cpu max load GPU maxed at 34c and CPU maxed at 44c. ( Before it was 39-40 and 51-52 Same conditions )

Before i was using XSPC Red Blood Coolant but with all this RGB stuff i wanted something clear more or less. Had to drain loop as 1080 nova was used with pastel dye that totally messed up coolant making it purple black almost even tho i flushed the hell out of it. But it must have been on fins stuck good and warm coolant slowly cleared it out. So I added external Drain Valve After pc before Radiator. for good flush cleaned pump and radiator them flushed 10 litres of water over loop
then flushed distilled water. Atm i'm running my good old combo aka Destiled water 2l+ 200ml blue antifreeze for corrosion protection and kill coil.

This flush and coolant change gave me -5c on both cpu and gpu even tho i added 4 more components to loop.
Fun Fact this XSPC 750 gen 1 pump is still going **** me its oldest part of my pc now... I Gotten it with my phenom 1090T so its 6 or 7 years old and doing job just as good as when it came in !!! Once It dies Ill get the New D5 Version hahaha.

How many banks you got populated and with what memory? Anything special you had to set in the bios etc? Any chance you could take me a screenie of your memory timings out of something like cpuz? Best I can manage is 3066 with 8x8gb sticks, I am sure I could get this better but unsure on what settings to play about with.

does anybody have a 1920x would like to hear from an owner if its on par with 7900x in real world scenarios

We could disable some cores on the 1950 to give you an idea? There are 2 users with the 1920 so perhaps they will come along and help :)
