***********Official Saints Row: The Third Thread ***************

Yeah that's certainly all there is to GTA4. Well done.

For the people who found the friend/dating missions boring as far as I can remember the game only forced you to do 2 or 3 at the most and one of them is an introduction to friend activities, across a 24+ hour story that's not exactly a lot. The attention to detail in GTA IV was superb, I mean what other game has an in-game Internet with a huge number of sites to visit, especially when it's as well integrated as it is in GTA IV, you could find maps, strangers go on Craigslist (Craplist), all sorts of stuff.

The real fun was to be had online, playing cops and robbers with a bunch of mates, playing the timed missions online where a gang of your friends had to do a short story mission within an allotted period of time, street races, car stealing multiplayer modes, the game was loads of fun if you wanted it to be. People who moan about the mini-games being boring have probably only scratched the surface of the game, you don't even have to do them for the most part.

As for GTA 3, VC and SA being more "silly" well I don't really think that's the case. They may have looked more cartoony due to the engine they ran on, but the story for the most part was quite mature in all of the games, there may have been the odd stupid mission but it wasn't a game that was based on childish stuff, it was pretty dark. Sure you can find a ***** in the VC and SA police stations but that's more a subtle gag than an "OMG THERE'S A ***** IN THE GAME HIT PEOPLE WITH IT".

That's not to say the games didn't have their humour, the radio stations and adverts were packed with parodies but again, these weren't stupid over-the-top trying to be funny, they were all well written, hilarious takes on real life and I don't think Saints Row has ever offered that to me. I've always found Saints Row to be crass, a bit stupid and blatant, and even though GTA and SR have their similarities they have a huge host of differences too. I always cringe when people call SR the spiritual successor to GTA 3, VC, SA because beneath the surface they are nothing alike.

Praise for a sly dig made about a game some time ago. Thanks I guess.

Never said it was all there was to do at all but it was a pain in the backside getting phone calls all the time about going bowling and all the other side activities. Not saying it was a bad game but a lot of little things hindered it being great. Just my opinion.

You can put the phone in sleep mode specifically to stop those calls. :p

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Honestly had no idea! Might have to pick this up again when new releases are quiet.

Yeah if you bring your phone up, go to options then sleep mode and it says you won't get any calls until you take it back out of sleep mode. That way you can go and do whatever you want to, then just turn it back on again when you're ready. :p

I'll pick it up on PC once ive got Saints Row 3 done and dusted. Cheers for that though ;)

Did anyone have a play about with the character creator? I have a naked fella running round in just his boots. Luckily for the children's sakes, his willy is pixelated.

My wife is getting me this for my birthday, which thankfully is next Thursday, so not long after release. I'll have Skyrim to keep me busy until then, and I have my birthday and the day after off as well, so I'll have 2 long days which I'll use to cause absolute mayhem in this :D

Not played much, but yeah it's good, feels like your jumping back into SR2.

The Starwars into is brilliant

A Saints movie is in development.
Johnny Gat and Shaundi are pop-culture icons. And Pierce...

Well, who gives a **** about Pierce?
:D

Got this along with Zelda yesterday.

This is awesome! After playing Skyrim for an inhumane amount of time over a short period, its nice to take a break and play something that doesnt take itself too serious.

Me and my mate completed SR:2 together so now have this one on the go. So much fun can be had! Were only about 11% through at the moment but there never seems to be anything boring to do in it! The first few missions feel like they should be more towards the end of the game so I cant imagine what they have lined up for that.
The soundtrack also makes a welcome comeback. Theres no Land Down Under, but there is Bonnie Tyler's I Need a Hero, which whilst driving along at 150MPH on a motorbike wearing nothing but a giant cat head is good to listen to!

Took me a bit more adjustment than I thought it would initially, but really enjoying it!

Want to get the pulse gun ASAP!! Anyone know where I can find it? :D

Is the vehicle handling any better this time round? The atrocious vehicle physics/handling were a game-breaker for me in SR2, it dulled the entire experience.
