Yeah that's certainly all there is to GTA4. Well done.
For the people who found the friend/dating missions boring as far as I can remember the game only forced you to do 2 or 3 at the most and one of them is an introduction to friend activities, across a 24+ hour story that's not exactly a lot. The attention to detail in GTA IV was superb, I mean what other game has an in-game Internet with a huge number of sites to visit, especially when it's as well integrated as it is in GTA IV, you could find maps, strangers go on Craigslist (Craplist), all sorts of stuff.
The real fun was to be had online, playing cops and robbers with a bunch of mates, playing the timed missions online where a gang of your friends had to do a short story mission within an allotted period of time, street races, car stealing multiplayer modes, the game was loads of fun if you wanted it to be. People who moan about the mini-games being boring have probably only scratched the surface of the game, you don't even have to do them for the most part.
As for GTA 3, VC and SA being more "silly" well I don't really think that's the case. They may have looked more cartoony due to the engine they ran on, but the story for the most part was quite mature in all of the games, there may have been the odd stupid mission but it wasn't a game that was based on childish stuff, it was pretty dark. Sure you can find a ***** in the VC and SA police stations but that's more a subtle gag than an "OMG THERE'S A ***** IN THE GAME HIT PEOPLE WITH IT".
That's not to say the games didn't have their humour, the radio stations and adverts were packed with parodies but again, these weren't stupid over-the-top trying to be funny, they were all well written, hilarious takes on real life and I don't think Saints Row has ever offered that to me. I've always found Saints Row to be crass, a bit stupid and blatant, and even though GTA and SR have their similarities they have a huge host of differences too. I always cringe when people call SR the spiritual successor to GTA 3, VC, SA because beneath the surface they are nothing alike.
