*** Official SONOS Thread ***

I don't really understand the need for these streaming boxes given that anybody who would have an expensive Sonos device will surely have a TV that has all the bells and whistles.

The only reason most will buy it is it will allow you to add front left and front right speakers into the mix, so you'll be able to have 4 era 300's running. Pretty expensive setup but people have been wanting it for ages without wanting to go down the wired route.

I assume there's hardware limitations currently or they don't want to risk dropouts etc and this will help eliminate it all, especially as all speakers can communicate wirelessly with the box as well.

I like the idea of a streaming box that would allow different Sonos speaker configurations for surround sound, instead of a soundbar.

I have a Beam Gen2 and symfonisks now - so very unlikely to go down that route as an existing customer.

What I'd actually quite like would be a Sonos receiver, that would let me plug in all sorts of input gubbins - and I suppose the streaming box is vaguely along those lines. That single HDMI eArc on the Beam Gen2 is actually quite restrictive and I ended up getting a HDFury Arcana to allow a little more flexibility.

Seems you can unofficially do it now already with an app (only available for Apple currently) called SonoSequencr

Seen various threads on Reddit with people getting it to work but seems for the moment it's better to use play 1's at the front as the full capacity of all drivers on the 300's doesn't work.

It’s probably the right decision but still disappointing that it isn’t coming out as wanted to put it through its paces and the passthrough functionality.

Those of you who have wall-mounted the Arc (gen1) did you use the official Sonos one with the 'fancy' magnets or have you gone for a third party one, at half the price?

Most hedge and investment funds are dumping Sonos shares; and the share price is down 38% this year
I'm not suprised, they're not making any money.

Product development is slow, headphones were a miss and they've not managed to develop a subscription model they can monetise.

A lot of that is due to the ongoing UK political situation so it looks worse than it is, but yeah they are tanking.
You mean US? They're an American company and sell 2/3rds of their product within the US so I think the problem is more than just Trump's tariff mess. They haven't made a profit for 2 years now and revenue is falling.

Yes, I mean US. S&P 500 has been in sharp decline in recent months, which has undoubtedly affected Sonos stock too. I'm not saying it's the entire cause, there's definitely issues around the company but it's not entirely responsible for the entire drop in stock value.
