*** Official SONOS Thread ***

Hi, trade up question

I have a gen 1 Play 5 that I registered earlier today but when I click through to 'check trade up eligibility' there is no tick box next to the play 5 - what am i doing wrong? It's registered and working on the S1 app.

I also have gen 2 products on the S2 app, but pretty sure thats not causing issues with the trade up.

This is what I see:
v2

Thanks, Kris
You have to give it an hour or 2 to work :)

I've got a Sonos 1 2nd gen and for a while now its developed an annoying issue.
I've got Alexa enabled, if you say something such as 'Alexa play white noise' it'll play, however ...
1. You can't stop it, saying 'alexa stop' acknowledges the command but then the noise just starts again
2. You can't set a sleep timer, it'll again acknowledge the command but it'll not set the timer.

When you look at the sonos app you can see that the clip playing is in some kind of constant refresh on the screen, so anything you manually change instantly gets removed.

I've tried resetting the entire thing but still the same issue.

Seems to be Alexa related as playing Spotify doesn't have the same issue.

Anyone had similar?

I have an issue where I tend to have to ask everything twice, I need to sort it, but being lazy at the moment! Also sometimes if I start a radio through Alexa it can constantly stop and start, but starting in Sonos app no issues. This affects my Arc and also a beam and Sonos 1, with the radio activated through an Echo Dot.

That's interesting. I've noticed a few times recently on being asked to play a song, Alexa will reply in full to tell me what she's playing, and the source of the song... and then won't play it. On a second request, she plays it fine.

On the other side, the unreliability a few of us spoke about regarding the S2 app seems to have resolved for me.

Grab a Sonos Bridge from eBay/fb marketplace then use the trade up scheme at Sevenoaks, £289 then.

Or John Lewis appear to be doing £30 off them.

Sorry to jump in, but do you know if the bridge needs to be unused in the official Sonos trade up program (not sure if it was even included?) or do they just take the item as is? Very tempted by the arc and sub!

Perfect thank you, appreciate that. Will try and get down there at the weekend then
Just picked up a Beam trading in a Bridge. Bridge cost me a tenner so £289 altogether. They just put the Ser No of the Bridge on the paperwork they have to fill in and then send it back to Sonos, no checks done.

Sarnie time and then time to set it up :)

Thanks to Daaaavvveee for mentioning it.

No worries, now go buy some more Bridges and get more :D

I use a Beam and 2 x One’s for my LG C9 in a reasonably small room. Sounds great TBH, and easily enough bass for a small room.

However, if you wanted to use the One’s separately you would need to ungroup the speakers from the Beam each time I believe.

I occasionally play music through all three but have a 5 in the kitchen, a 3 upstairs and a Move for outside, so it’s not something I’ve ever bothered with. Think it would be a bit of faff ungrouping and grouping again all of the time.

Looked at the Ikea speakers but although they’re considerably cheaper they do not sound as good. They might be good enough, but I went for the 2 x One’s instead after reading some reviews that compared both.
Same here except I later added the Sonos Sub - really nice solution and easy to tune to the sounds dynamics of the room with the app.

I have a Play One in the dining room and have added a Beam in the living room. Whenever I open the app to play music it always asks me which speaker I want to play it on. Is there a way to default it to start playing on the Play One? Can't seem to find anything in the settings but might not be looking hard enough.
