Well I spent all of last night just trying to install the patch. Got stuck in this infinite "repair loop" where it would download the patch get about half way through and say i needed to repair, rinse and repeat.
Reinstalled game from scratch, same problem. Turned off my overclock and disabled everything possible from running, same problem. Downloaded the "launcher fix" they released, same problem.
After about 5 hours of doing this I unsubbed, the customer service responses were absolute jokes. It seemed like every other response they would copy / paste the wrong template and then have to ninja edit it back to what it should have been.
At no point in time did bioware apologise for causing this problem (it appears quite a lot of players were effected) simply stating it's a problem with our hardware.
Low and behold this morning I download the client fix again and it worked first time. No settings had been changed to my previous attempt it just suddenly started working. This is clearly a problem with their software and the fact they wont even admit there's a fault is infuriating.

Unfortunately its the limitations of the game engine and displaying large amounts of characters on the screen at once.
There's an option in the graphics settings to reduce the amount of players visible onscreen, maybe you could try that.
I am tempted to re-sub this weekend after getting a big miffed with diablo 3, my character was transfered to Nightmare lands just before my sub last expired so I am totally guildless. Anybody on the republic with a guild I could join?

Already have an SSD, I *think* I may have installed it to my SSD (I hope so!).
Its not linked to steam is it?(you can link it but I bought the game separately and just used the main downloader).
Also I did notice that textures seem to load slowly when you first load the game.. is this normal?
I have to agree.
I had it installed on my 2TB Games drive originally and was able to read the loading screen prologue twice with time to spare. This morning I moved the game to my SSD and I can hardly get through the first paragraph of the prologue before the game loads. Loading times in game are almost non-existent now, too.
So I resubbed, and feel completely useless! How does my full set of champion with a few centurian compare to whats currently available PvP wise? Only good thing at the moment is theres no one that looks like me! I remember my assassin being unbeatable in WZ's with the tank spec, is this still very strong? Will probably respec anyway as I cannot remember any of my binds/rotations etc.
Just done some reading, so the new blue 'recruit' gear is essentially better than my champion set?
Correct.
Not wanting to come across rude but if you step away from a MMO for a period of time then your gear will become out dated, that is how MMO's basically function.
You can get a full set of recruit gear from a quest now so it doesn't cost you anything and whilst you're trying to remember your keybinds you can acquire warzone commendations to buy your battlemaster gear.
My Assassin is only level 36 and I was getting pulverised last night....couldn’t do anything right?
(maybe just a bad night)I’m using the Deception build, should I repec to the Darkness? Would this be ok for levelling or should I just stick with Deception and learn how to PVP lol
There are a lot of sites out there better suited to give you specific class advice. I believe a tank spec with dps gear is currently the most popular pvp spec for assassins but I'm not 100% on that.

I have 2300+ Cunning now on my slinger - still need to mod my belt; but waiting on an armouring drop so I can use my orange one instead.
Still need level 61 Armouring/Mods in my Head/Chest/Guns too (and belt/bracers) but otherwise pretty happy with that!

Jesus, im at level 40 and my GS isnt nowhere near that for cunning!
How you liking the extra power with a GS now? iv noticed a huge improvement now in PVP, im finishing top quite few times now
Out of my 6 toons ,my GS is the best for PVP now by far
such an under-estimated classIm liking the new gun sound effects too.
